What Happens To The Body If A Person Sleeps For Less Than 6 Hours?

Lack of sleep suffers a lot of people these days. Doctors say that every third person does not get enough sleep. More and more people donate part of the rest that our body deserves.

Some take this time to work, others late in the evening “hang out” on the phone, computer or near the TV. In fact, all this is not an excuse for not getting enough sleep.

The golden rule is to sleep a sufficient number of hours a day, it should be at the very beginning of your priority list. Of course, a little good – to feel like a zombie, when not enough sleep. But what many people do not know is that such a rhythm of life gradually destroys our body.

Lack of oxygen

When lack of sleep physical capacity decreases gradually within 48 hours. Your body begins to lack oxygen. Very often you will feel like a slow-moving tortoise.

After 72 hours, the body begins to feel anxious, there are problems with concentration. If you are driving – more likely to get into an accident.

Reduced intelligence

When you sleep less than 6 hours a day, it will affect your ability to communicate. Studies by the US military have shown that a loss of one hour of sleep per night during the week creates cognitive impairments comparable to a 10 percent level of alcohol in the blood.

Bad memory

Every time a person sleeps, the brain makes its “accounts”. Scientists have called this process “slow waves”, and it is responsible for strengthening our memory. Such an operation only works in deep sleep. Which brings us back to the fact that insufficient sleep directly affects memory.

Unproductive

Since lack of sleep significantly affects intelligence and memory, you are no doubt becoming half as productive as usual. Thus, you actually reduce your week from 5 to 4 days, as well as your daily working hours, during which you stay in shape and demonstrate better performance. Henry Ford proved it a long time ago.

Depression

You will notice this quite easily every time you are late for work. After a week or two, your behavior will change, and you will be perceived more and more negatively than ever. Even become especially irritable and prone to avoid others.

Drop in sexual activity

Unfortunately, lack of productivity and depression are not the only negative consequences of a lack of full sleep. This negatively affects sexuality.

Doctors know that people with apnea (short stops breathing in their sleep) have low testosterone levels. For the simple reason that they have a bad dream.

Weight gain

Lack of sleep makes it necessary to automatically consume large amounts of food and, in particular, high-calorie foods.

Add to this the fact that the person does not want to move at all. He probably leads a sedentary lifestyle. And you get the perfect formula for gaining excess weight.

Accelerated aging

Last but not least, lack of sleep speeds up the aging process of your body.

It starts with the fact that when you are not sleeping enough, your body produces significantly more cortisol. This biologically active hormone increases stress throughout the body, because it is responsible for bringing it to combat readiness, helps vigorously (or at least somehow) get up in the morning.

At the same time, the body produces much less somatropin, which is a human growth hormone. Responsible for stimulating cell growth and reproduction. Since it is produced by the pituitary gland, a part of the brain that desperately lacks sleep, it is clear what caused the lack of an important hormone.

So listen to the advice: take time to sleep well!
