How Can ‘Congress-Mukt Bharat’ Be A Reality?

Though the Bhartiya Janata Party was running quite fast with the confidence of removing the Congress party from national politics, it has received a big jolt with its defeats in at least three important states. Congress president Rahul Gandhi quite clearly rebuffed the BJP for its slogan on Congress-Mukt Bharat.

Nowadays, a similar sort of voice has been raised from utterly buoyant and confident Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao. It is now he had started dreaming of the Congress-Mukt and the BJP-Mukt India. How can it be possible when the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, for example, have won many seats by a very short margin. As many as ten seats registered a difference of only one thousand votes. In a total of 18 seats, there remained a difference of 2,000 votes in the results. Likewise, the difference of 3,000 votes remained on 30 seats while 45 seats were declared on a difference of 5,000 votes.  In total, 20% seats in MP saw a very close fight.

The TRS leader assertively hoped a new national party as a consortium of the regional parties might emerge very soon. He declared that he would play a decisive role in the country’s politics. However, Rahul Gandhi did not wholly want such type of politics. His idea is far different from theirs. He wanted to a wage war against an ideology. What  his party had rejected earlier remained his thought even today? There were two kinds of thoughts in even the Congress party in pre-independence days. There was one called Naram Dal and other was termed as Garam Dal.

This could be simplified with the present-day motto of Hindutva and Hinduism. It is these theories which have seeped into the Indian politics immensely. Anyhow, Rahul Gandhi had supposedly a different attitude. He appeared to have been following a theory which would keep him on the standard set up by the Constitution. That was why his party did not openly deny the presence of the minorities in electoral politics.

He seemed to have applied a balancing side in securing the battle of ballots (EVMs). And his victory has now been linked with a resurgence of the dead party so far. However, Sonia Gandhi attributed his success to his hard work.

His triumphs are no less significant than those that the party gained during Indira Gandhi after the Janata Party’s rule. Even the Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav praised Rahul Gandhi for his political sagacity by taunting the BJP as Abki Baar Kho Di Sarkar.
