The Kashmir Issue: Ready Or Still In Denial?

“What do you think these imbroglio Hurriyat leaders will let peace ascend”, Junaid ingeminated. “Everyone gets paid for carrying out these fraudulent activities”, he pressed further. But there was no reply to this from the other end. His brother was silently suppressing his anger while saying, “you know nothing about the situation here, rather than indulging in sensitive issues like this, concentrate on your studies.”

Yes, it was Kashmir.

Nobody is ready to condone the fact that Kashmir requires attention, though everybody is opinionated over it. The assertiveness is mostly influenced by the media which we have happily welcomed into our living rooms. Well, I cannot think how would be the conscience of people who, sitting on a king-sized bed discuss families blown in militant attacks.

The much radical indoctrination of Kashmir youths evokes hatred and indifference from the ignorant citizens. The government is towed into the situation and labeled fragmentary.

The people suffering from the war-like situation there, are waiting for some step that should be initiated by the government of India. There are many steps pioneered in order to take this state towards progression but baby steps aren’t the need of the hour, enlightened souls are concluding towards betterment but there is still a way to go. Implementation of the policies is needed rather than the idea itself. While reading an article by a well-educated Mujahideen militant, scholar Manan Wani, I realized the fact that there are many layers to the opinions of these ideologies. Residual products of the long agony in form of anger and grief is not simply black or white.

People should be familiarized by the fact that the nation is not against them, at least not the right or left loving generation. The youth forms judgments while mixing how these agonized families are terrorizing the country with how horrible their corporate bosses are. This all happens when a young man in the valley is unable to find a job to meet both his ends meet. The issue resides within us, with us and amongst us.

Let peace penetrate its existence and encroach the people.

It is high time, that a strong and effective step should be taken to establish the state with appropriate law and order.

I shall conclude this with what John. F. Kennedy once said, “We must use time as a tool, not as a crutch.”
