Remembering The Demolition Of Babri Masjid

On 6 December 1992, Babri Masjid was demolished. Many people died due to the violence that followed. At that time Bharatiya Janata Party was in power in the centre and failed severely in controlling the situation of law and order. The central government suspended the state government as damage control. Since then, the political structure of India has changed. The mob which actively participated in the act got backing of the BJP, RSS and some other right wings group. The leaders who motivated the crowd to do so are still free from any trial. Ram mandir dispute has become the most highlighted issue in national politics.

Demolition of Babri Masjid and Ram Mandir dispute was the boon for the BJP at that time when BJP did not have the strength to form the government independently. After that particular incident, Hindu hardliners found their favourite.

At present, the people of Ayodhya still remember the moment when this incident happened. Not only Muslims but Hindus of Ayodhya also do not want any such conflict again; the vandalism destroyed the social structure of Ayodhya.

Also, people of Ayodhya have no faith in any political party. According to them every political party only tries to take political mileage through the Ram Mandir dispute. Lastly, post-independence India was known for its secularism structure and pluralism amongst the various castes, creeds and religions. So any such incidents only degrade the real shades of India.
