Congress Risks Electoral Battle In Haryana By-Election

Now the Kaithal MLA will contest assembly election from Jind district. There is a distance of only 56 Kms by the road between both the destinations. Will this area gap not affect voters in the ensuing assembly encounter? Anxious to secure a solid victory on Jind assembly seat in Haryana the Congress party has brought Randeep Surjewala into the electoral battle. Although he is a sitting member of legislative assembly from Kaithal constituency yet his candidature from Jind constituency has been taken up as ideal.

It is obviously a surprising decision on the part of high command but there was no other way out to take over this particular prestigious seat. The party leaders know it aptly well that they were tactically aiming at this constituency after emptiness in the political space formed with INLD split.

Jind has always been a stronghold for the party Indian National Lok Dal formed by Chowdhary Devi Lal since the year 1996. This initiative on the part of the Congress party seemed to have arisen after a seething combination of anger and backing. Rahul Gandhi like Buddha was spreading out his political energy in all four directions. This was the best moment in his view to take the right move into the political battle fixed for January 28.

His morale looks higher and bigger after the formation of governments in three important states. What he has experienced in the previous days appears redundant for him now. If he feels optimistic that gives him something to look forward to the Lok Sabha and the Assembly polls ahead this year. He is trying to telepathically convey his winning spree in that state too.

The Congress party defeats in the mayoral polls in five cities of Haryana compelled its strategic team to field a strong candidate from Jind assembly seat. The win was important for the Congress party for it had not registered its electoral success since the last two assembly elections. This by-election was necessitated following the death of Harichand Middha.
