National President of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav has composed a letter to the Chairman of the National Backward Classes Commission and National Scheduled Castes/Tribal Commission. He asked them to make Constitution based reservation effective.
Mr. Akhilesh has said that there must be strict compliance of the constitution regarding conveying Social Justice. Freedom fighters, from Gandhi ji to Bhagat Singh, all had cleared up that freedom would be a method for us to accomplish the accomplishment of framework change. The arrangement of reservation in the constitution is energized with this idea. Our experience is that these arrangements are not being executed for open welfare by that standard, as the creators of the Constitution had anticipated. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Chief Producer of the Constitution, while initiating the Constitution stated, “This Constitution is exceptionally great”, yet its favorable position or impediment will rely upon what is the attitude of those implementing it.
Shri Akhilesh Yadav has said that there is a provision of 27 percent reservation in competition / examination for education and recruitment for backward classes. According to this provision, if a competitor / candidate was able to get so many points, he would not have required reservations, such candidate was kept in the general category, not keeping him in the 27 percent reservation category. But according to the new rules, even if a candidate / contestant gets the first place in the examination / competition, the candidate is kept in the same category of 27 percent reservation. Due to the new rules, the backward class is not getting the full benefit of reservation.
The former Chief Minister has said that in government appointments, there is a provision of 27 percent reservation for the backward class. To deprive the backward class of government appointments, a new procedure is being made, which is given the name of the roster system. According to the roster system, recruitment is being done only in two to three posts; reservation on so few positions does not apply. Therefore, the roster system is not able to get the benefit of reservations for backward classes in the appointments. Therefore, appointments by the roster system should be banned, and appointments should be made under the constitution, such as the first rule.
Shri Akhilesh Yadav has stepped up from party politics and has demanded to maintain old system of reservation in education and appointments for the backward classes and to cancel appointments from the roster system and expect to take effective action.
