Amitabh Bachchan is not just one of the, but the most influential actor Hindi cinema has ever seen. And it comes as no surprise that he’s still very much active, be it in cinema or in television or for that matter, he even appears on almost every second advertisement we come across on daily basis. This clearly showcases the kind of love we all have showered on Big B. There’s isn’t a bigger household name than Amitabh Bachchan in most of India. Not even our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji. Yes, this may come out as a very debatable statement, but that’s exactly the point of writing as far as my view goes. To create a conversation around a topic no matter if it seems irrelevant to you.
Amitabh Bachchan has been around for more than 5 decades and I still get excited whenever he’s about to pop up on the screen. This doesn’t happen just like that. Big B is the heartbeat of our nation for a reason, and that reason is simple. He’s a part of our families. He was around when your parents were growing up and he’s still very much around when we have already grown up. We believe in him. We trust him. At least I do. And that’s the reason why I say Amitabh Bachchan is the only person who can realistically challenge Narendra Modi.
Let’s be honest. Congress doesn’t have an iota of a chance to win the upcoming elections because they simply don’t have anyone who can stand up against a towering figure like Modi. The kind of charisma he oozes and the kind of audience involvement he can achieve through his speeches is astounding. There’s not a bigger political superstar than Narendra Modi in India and there’s no bigger screen star than Amitabh Bachchan. Even though they will never collide and cross their paths in the political arena or in the film world, one thing which I strongly believe is that when it comes to a place in Indian hearts, both Big B and Modi have a strong and fierce battle and my heart clearly lies with the former. A living family member, not by blood, but a clear cosmic connection. Long live Big B.
