It Is Shameful That Our Politicians Lack Basic Discipline And Brawl Like Goons

What has drawn considerable attention this month for the BJP was its shoe brawl. The opposition parties left no time to disparage at the fight between the two lawmakers.

It seemed to be a similar episode like the Iraqi journalist’s shoe hurling. Though his aim missed the world’s strongest president, the act gained plenty reporting. Shoes or slippers are considered unhygienic anyway then how could its use be nice?

Ours is a country where ‘khadau’ is worshipped and feet are touched as a mark of respect, experienced an insulting scene quite opposite to the indigenous culture.

MP Sharad Tripathi and MLA Rakesh Singh Baghel indulged in an agitated brawl. One started beating another with his slipper in a fit of stroppy rage.

How shameful it looked as the politicians brawled just for publicising their names. They appeared to have forgotten that prestige and popularity come from the welfare work they do for the people.

We often hear this line, “kaam bolta hai,” or “actions speak louder than words.” The focus of elected representatives must not divert from public well-being. The footage of the row must have led party bosses to impart a lesson of restraint and discipline.

Regretting the incident, Sharad Tripathi said, “He feels about it. What happened was against my normal behaviour.” The MLA also extended his apology for the needless fight.

In political circles, however, there is a lot of debate about whether or not shoe brawls can turn into an addiction!
