What Lies Between Humans And Technology? NIT Trichy Might Have The Answer

NIT Trichy is buzzing with activity for their annual techno-managerial festival, Pragyan. With the theme for this edition being ‘Spectrum,’ this 4 day extravaganza will celebrate technology across a multitude of domains while retaining the essence of human life embedded within.

A key aspect is the Crossfire and Guest Lecture series with this year’s biggest highlights including Dr. Spyridon Michalakis, quantum physicist and Dr. Crystal Dilworth, a polymath, both from CalTech. Everyone on campus is looking forward to discuss issues concerning the relation between humans and technology while also discussing their role in enhancing technology.

The most addition is the Human Library initiative being integrated within the fest. Over the years it has garnered a lot of positive response and has opened interesting avenues of interactions. The 2018 edition witnessed the first Human Library in Trichy, and it was held in association with Human Library Hyderabad. This event held the record for the being the biggest human library of 2018 organized in India.

Sangam and Ingenium are the intra and inter college technical competitions held by Pragyan and they have generated many ideas that will drive invention forward. Apart from participation in events and competitions, workshops are held for students to gain additional skills that will help them get a head start in their academic life.

The organisers of Pragyan are also committed to extending their reach and conduct SquareOne, an outreach series which consists of events, workshops and guest lectures conducted in various colleges across Tamil Nadu, in the months leading up to the main fest.

Pragyan Hackathon, the annual coding and app developing competition, was organized at Visteon headquarters in Chennai on January 19 and 20, 2019. Also, the Pragyan International Model United Nations hosted in NIT-Trichy saw immense participation from enthusiasts all across the country.

Pragyan as an organisation run by students, has evolved over time to be what it is today. As responsible youth of the nation, they have taken up social ventures to give back to the society.

‘Raksha’ a voluntary act by students at the Red Cross- Trichy, was held on November 22 2018. Students at a government school in Valavandhankottai were provided with information on first aid and sexual awareness. An awareness drive, Dhisai was organised during January 22-25 for over 600 students to offer them an outlook as to where they stand with their academic potential. ‘First Step’ was another venture aimed at providing footwear to underprivileged students.

To conclude, Pragyan is the one-stop destination that will help you learn new things, test your skills and let you have fun while you learn. Make sure you don’t miss out on a annual event that has it all!
