Avengers Endgame: The Story So Far And What To Expect

Avengers_-Endgame-1

WARNING: SPOILERS FROM PREVIOUS MOVIES IN THE MARVEL FRANCHISE

The last instalment of the Avengers franchise, “Avengers: Endgame”, is around the corner and the world is already super stirred. And why will they not be? The real Avengers are set to avenge the doing of the mighty Thanos. There are already so many theories surrounding the climax. Let’s check some out.

The moment Thanos made his first-ever appearance in “Avengers: Assemble” in 2012, it was confirmed he is a force to be reckoned with. He scared the shit out of Loki then. In the first “Guardians Of The Galaxy”, Ronan the Accuser was a known associate to Thanos, but he eventually betrayed him.

Thanos is a fighter with an ideology and he felt that the universe is filled with filth, loath and greed and he wanted to cleanse it by wiping half of the population in the universe. To do that, he needs all the infinity stones that are spread throughout the universe. Two of the stones, in particular, were hosted on earth, the time stone that remained with Dr. Strange and the mind stone that came out of Loki’s spear and rested on Vision’s forehead.

By keeping the stones on Earth, Avengers unknowingly made it a target. Thor warned them already but that is another story. So, a few Avengers (Ironman, Spiderman) along with Dr. Strange and some of the Guardians of Galaxy went to planet Titan to have a brawl. Since Banner could not turn into the Hulk and help out, he went to Wakanda and warned the others. The team gathered and preparation began.

Thanos had already obtained space stone by killing Loki. He somehow managed to get the reality stone, nobody knows how, same with the power stone – he decimated planet Xandar to obtain it. Dr Strange gave up time stone and Thanos practically snapped Vision’s brain out for the mind stone. The soul stone was a tad bit difficult to acquire for Thanos. He had to sacrifice something he loved the most, so he abducted Gamora and threw her off a cliff.

Viewers have seen that without a medium, no one can wield a single infinity stone power, let alone 5. But Thanos had it sorted, he had a gauntlet, a golden glove, that was made on Nidavellir. Infinity Gauntlet was first seen in the Asgard’s secret collection room in the movie Thor.

In the first 10 minutes of the movies, Thanos beat Hulk and half the movie later, he came to earth. He beat almost everyone, even Captain America couldn’t do shit except give a shocking expression to Thano’s face. Then came the thunder god who plunged his Stormbreaker into Thanos’ chest. Although as Thanos said, Thor should have gone for his head. Then came ‘THE SNAP’. As promised, Thanos wiped out half the living beings from the universe.

It was a loss for the Avengers and humanity. Dr. Strange, Spiderman, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Star Lord, Drax, Mantis, Groot, Nick Fury and Agent Maria Hill along with half the universe crumbled to pieces.

All hope seemed lost and only one possibility remained out of millions. The upcoming endgame will pick up from where Infinity War ended. The trailer gave away some interesting facts like Ant Man dropping by, Hawkeye dressed up as Assassin Creed and Ironman floating aimlessly somewhere in space. The anticipation and hype surrounding the movie make it even more interesting. This is one of the reasons why the pre-ticket booking of Avengers 4 has broken all previous records.

What Can You Expect From the Movie

Well, it is clear the movie is going to have a happy ending. Some theories suggest that Ant-Man’s time travel utilizing quantum realm will take Avengers back in time, resurface and then battle Thanos. For now, Ant-Man is still stuck in the quantum realm. Some theorists say that Scott Lang’s (Ant Man) friend Luis will find him and will bring him out of the quantum realm, some believe that a previous version of Janet exists in the microverse and she will help Lang.

We have all seen Ant-Man knocking on the Avenger HQ. Now, it is still unclear how he came out of the quantum but let us assume anyway. One absurd theory that is viral since the post-credit scene in Avengers 3 is that Ant-Man will go inside Thanos’ butt and will expand tearing him from bottom to top. Obviously, Marvel isn’t going to mock one of the major protagonist (believe it or not) by blowing his ass off.

It might go like this. Those who were wiped are still believed to be alive. Now, one of the most discussed theory is time travel, of course, it’s the easiest way to undo the snap, kill the villain, and secure the stones. But see it this way, it is highly unlikely that Marvel will pull off something this predictable.

According to some fan theories, Thanos didn’t kill half the universe instead he created an alternate universe or dimension and shifted half the occupants there. What if it’s true? What if Marvel plans to merge different universes through the quantum realm to make way for further movies and introduce the X-men world? At least in the comics, Captain Marvel travels to the new universe.

What if Dr Strange saw this and kept it a secret? He knows there’s only one way to win and he also said he’d do anything to protect the stone. Which means that Tony Stark can end up dead (bad way to bid farewell). At this point, it seems the knowledge might be with Ant Man and Dr Strange.

Therefore, it possible the original universe gets sacrificed in order to save the new one hence, all the characters that died a horrible death, could get saved in the new verse.

Another theory suggests Captain America will save the universe by sacrificing himself. Mind stone requires sacrifice and since there aren’t many people alive in the Avengers, it’s more likely that Cap will offer his life as he’s pure and is more self-righteous than any other Avengers. This will lead to Ironman wielding the Infinity Gauntlet. Though there are so many wrongs in the theory. Why wouldn’t Avengers simply destroy the time stone and rest of the others before Thanos gets his hand on even single one of them?

One theory claims Nick Fury’s beloved Flerken cat is going to be the key. Flerkens are living transportation hubs with the ability to hold a pocket dimension. They can be used to travel to different times, dimension or places. The theory goes like this, all those who vanished, courtesy of ‘Snap,’ are in the other dimension. What Avengers have to do is go there and retrieve them.

The final theory we’ll talk about seems quite feasible and absurd at the same time. Ant-Man survived the snap because it didn’t work in the quantum realm. Although chances of him surviving were equivalent to that of Ironman or any other Avenger who remains alive. Let’s continue anyway, Avengers realise this and they trick Thanos into the Quantum realm. The team all gangs up on him, beats the crap out of him and leaves him there forever.

Theories may be exciting, they may tell different endings, the real story will unfold the day movie releases. The movies lands in theatres on April 26, 2019 and people are freaking out. Tickets for the first day have already been sold out at many places. It’s going to be interesting to see what sort of theory Marvel implemented, did any fan theory came close or will Marvel pull out something totally preposterous that will blow everyone’s frigging mind.
