How Many “Likes” Did You Get?

Once, my friend asked me to do a favor and “like” his photo on Facebook  I did it. The “Like” button on social media is the most fascinating thing for every user, especially youngsters. There is an intention to get maximum “likes” or “retweets” or “followers” on every post. All of these indicate the popularity of the user.

But the insanity for such fancy buttons has reached up to an extent that users get affected psychologically on not getting enough responses on the post. They start doubting their own identity and underestimate themselves. Some boast about getting likes in hundreds and start competing with others. It is visible that users have forgotten the real use of social media and are blindly chasing the “likes”. So, let us analyze the relevance of the so-called precious “likes” and their relation with the personality of the user.

There are many factors behind such responses to posts on social media. It does not show the quality of your content  in its entirety. Generally, introverts get lesser “likes” or “followers” because they have less social connect in this virtual world which gets their posts at last position. Some get the advantage of the presence of relatives on social media. Some give responses to a post only because they think that “agar maine like nhi kiya to yeh bhi meri post like nahi karega”. Also, some are jealous of a person’s popularity and do not like the post because of unhealthy competition. Many press the “like” button as a friendly obligation.

We can see how “likes” are traded on social media without any relation to even if the quality of the post isn’t good. It is quite similar to “money” because everybody is running after it. So, someone getting good responses in social media does not matter. We can’t judge the personality of anyone only on the basis of the number of “followers” or ”likes” on social media. One should not be depressed and obsessed about such things. It is of little or no relevance in the real world.
