India Should Look Beyond Ideologies Of Political Parties

Bhartiya Janta Party swept the 2014 general elections by an extent that took the nation by storm. Some credited Amit shah’s brilliant management skills while others were inspired by Modi’s charm. The one criteria that really made the difference was PM Narendra Modi’s ability to give hope to people. A large chunk of India’s population believed that Modi’s uncompromising policies can be the only way to move India towards a path of progress.

BJP has lately wrought the path of a conventional party. From emphasising on the Ayodhya issue to changing the names of cities and states (even using it within the manifesto during rallies) are a few examples. BJP is always considered as a party of Hindus. While Congress is known for its appeasement towards minorities. Similarly other major regional parties like Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party have always kept people intact with them by promoting their ideologies.

Every party possesses ideologies and their election manifesto somehow represents it. Though, they represent it partially, their indication towards their ideologies is easily depicted during their ruling tenure. Such is the power of these parties that they implement them through various schemes without letting people know about it. Half of the people are even unaware about the direction they move to. And those who know are either suppressed or manipulated by the ruling party.

The upcoming 2019 elections are solely going to be decided on the basis of party manifestos which clearly depict their respective ideologies. The trumpet for the general elections of the second largest country in the world, India, has been blown. In less than six months, fate of 1.33 billion people will be in the hands of a single person who will represent them in each corner of the world for the next five years. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi-led NDA has started its social media campaign to woo people with the same thrust that they used in 2014 general elections.

Similarly, Congress has also introduced their trump card by bringing Priyanka Gandhi in active politics. Other parties like Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP), and All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) have announced “Mahagathbandhan” to challenge the frequent power bearers – Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Congress. Now, the biggest question is – who will be able to convince these 1.33 billion people with their ideologies and implement them in next five years.

But in all of this election chaos, voters are often confused about the ideological aspect, as a party that supports a specific ideology tends to move away from another, this subsequently leads to flushing out the work done by the previous party in power. When Kamal Nath came to power in 2018, he terminated all the schemes laid by the former Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Thus, it’s really integral for voters to understand the crux of the diversified ideologies of the parties they plan to elect. And at last, voters should understand that their vote is the driving force of the country. They should not be driven by petty traps of the ideologies.
