Should Voting Be Made Compulsory By Law?

A retail cloth merchant named Bapurao Gund is creating awareness and encouraging voters since the past 35 years.
He traveled from Pune to Delhi on foot and organised a hunger strike for couple of days at the Jantar Mantar, Delhi to make casting of votes compulsory by an act of law.
He travels on a two wheeler whenever it’s election time in any of the states. He stops at temples, bus stands and other public places to encourage people to cast their votes. As the general elections are dawning on us, the electoral candidates, their followers, party members are pulling up their socks.
You can easily recognize him on a motor bike with labels and a flag, a shirt and a cap – with slogans encouraging people to vote. He appeals to people standing in public places to vote. He says that people enjoy picnics on voting day instead of going to the polling booths. He even gets slogans encouraging people to come out and vote printed on his t-shirt in Marathi language.
A few days back, he was seen assisting traffic policemen stationed at the Central Bus Stand, Kolhapur. He urged people to cast their votes on April 23.
Now, this is what you call real Voluntarism.
