Why I Believe NaMo Should Get A Second Term As PM

On May 16, 2014,  ‘NaMo’ waves hit the shores of the 16th General Election in India. History was created. Why? The BJP had replaced the longest-serving government with a clear mandate, making it the first non-Congress party to rule without an alliance. India would be led by an ex-Chief Minister, the first PM to be born after independence in India.

“Humse galti ho sakti hai lekin galat irade se kabhi kaam nahi karenge (we may make mistakes, but we will never work with the wrong intentions),” said our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi, the Chowkidaar of our Constitution, in one of his speeches.

It’s 2019 and the 17th general election is just three weeks away. All the political parties, along with our Chowkidaar, are busy campaigning. So, let’s wake the Chowkidaar (the enlightened voter) within us and see if the ‘acche din’, as promised, were delivered or not.

Defence

Since Shri Modi has joined the office as the PM, I believe he has taken great strides in improving the efficiency of the army, which includes decisive steps that have made their lives more secure and India a safer and stronger country. For the first time in the history of India, the defence budget has crossed ₹3,00,000 crore. The number of defence contracts that have been initiated with different indigenous and foreign vendors stand at 182. Many of these deals were delayed by the previous government. These include Rafale (the NDA closed it at 9% cheaper, as noted by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman), bulletproof jackets and helmets, Chinook helicopters, Tejas LCA (manufactured by HAL giving the defence market a much-needed boost) and OROP.

Social Welfare

The Modi-led government has also launched various schemes keeping all classes, genders, ages, and religions in mind.

Shedding light on issues such as Triple Talaq and addressing the plight of Muslim women is an example of the Prime Minister’s vision.

Health schemes like Ayushman Bharat, APY, PMAY, DDUGJY for the poor, and UJJAWALA, POSCO, PMFBY, SHCS have been introduced. UJJAWALA and amendments to POCSO will ensure that women don’t have to struggle for better health care, and girls can feel safer. SHCs were launched with the aim of providing benefit farmers. And the Swachh Bharat Mission is the first of its kind.

These are just some of the many good changes that India has seen. On the scientific front, ISRO has successfully launched 30 satellites of 8 countries including the USA.

In my opinion, ‘Make In India’ has shown India’s capability to boost its own market. ‘Train 18’, ‘One Nation One Card’ and the recent ‘Mission Shakti’ (making India a space superpower nation) are noteworthy developments.

GST has improved our economy, and ‘Digital India’ and ‘Skill India Program’ are some of the major schemes along with the Prime Minister’s foreign policies that have resulted in India’s improved ranking in several global indices.

It is not just the common man who has good things to say about the PM, but heads and chiefs of various national organisations have also praised him. These include the former Air Chief Marshal, the former DRDO chief, and the former ISRO director. Modi has proved that India has capabilities in every field, but still some people want evidence to prove this and claim that the PM hasn’t done much in the last few years.

I have two questions for the people asking for evidence and talking against him. Just two questions:

  1. Who built Taj Mahal? Shah Jahan or the workers?
  2. Please provide evidence for the statements made by Rahul Gandhi (Congress) in this video.
