A Vigilant Citizen’s Letter To The Prime Minister

You are truly a hero that this nation deserves, but apart from heroes this nation also deserves educated citizens, hard-working employees and prosperous farmers.

Dear Narendra Modi Ji,

Heartiest congratulations to you and your party for performing exceptionally well in the parliamentary elections recently. As you are expected to take oath formally on May 31, 2019, the people who have chosen you to rule and govern them for the second time with an overwhelming majority have certain expectations from you.

Some of the expectations, which I was able to identify are enlisted below for your kind consideration:

Positive Reformation In The Education Policy

Sir, there has been a lackadaisical approach to education during the first term of your government. We have seen how ignorant you and your ministers were during the entire five years of your tenure, towards the education policies.

The nonchalant attitude which you have shown towards the education policies is really disheartening. During your political rallies, you very finely cherished the memories of Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi enjoying a vacation on the submarine, but unfortunately, you forgot to mention about Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas- a brainchild of Rajiv Gandhi.

Education Policy Needs An Overhaul

I won’t go into details as you may label me as a Congressman but I would also like you to cherish the beautiful memories of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan that was the brainchild of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his heartfelt and warm relationship with the children of India.

Sir, with all due respect to the designation you are holding, I would urge you to please take some positive steps for changing the face of school education in India. You can take the example of Delhi Government and learn from the way they have refurbished the status of government schools in the national capital.

I request you to kindly, keep aside your political agenda, ignore AAP’s political immaturity and learn a thing or two from them about overhauling the administration and functioning of the government schools.

Regarding higher education in the country, I would request you to be mindful while designating higher rankings to certain universities and colleges.

I know selections are not solely merit-based, they are sometimes motivated by political and other vested interests. I urge you to seriously look into the deteriorating quality of higher education in the country.

Curbing the menace of unemployment

Five years ago, you had promised that your government will provide two crore jobs per year. I know that was a huge number which I am sure you must have mentioned without any ill intent, but please see if anything positive can be done in that regard apart from the ongoing schemes of Gau-Rakshaks, Pakoda Business and Tea Stalls.

A Solution To The Woes Of  Farmers

We are an agrarian country. We have seen during the Green Revolution that how effective the higher level decision making in this regard could be. Prompt actions taken by the then government resulted in saving over a billion people from starvation.  Please do something that can be beneficial for both farmers as well as the small scale traders.

They are the food providers, the very basis of our economy and the nation.

At least don’t be harsh on farmers when they protest against your government. They are the food providers, the very basis of our economy and the nation.

There are other expectations as well but these three are on the top of my priority list. Maybe during this term as well, you will be busy with your election campaigns and important foreign tours which are certainly very important, but please sir if you can spare some time for these issues, do find a solution for them.

I know the pressure is high on you right now. You have to choose your cabinet and the council of ministers but honestly speaking don’t waste your precious time trying to figure out the names for the Finance and Foreign Affairs Minister. You have been managing these ministries so well since the last five years, that I am impressed with your abilities.

You are truly a hero that this nation deserves, but apart from heroes this nation also deserves educated citizens, hard-working employees and prosperous farmers. This nation deserves that you to live up to the expectations which brought the people to the polling booths to vote you back in power for the second time.

And sir, since you are elected to the office of Prime Minister again, we would love to ask questions to you, and as citizens of a democratic republic, we deserve proper answers.  Please don’t lean back on Pandit Nehru again. It was a long time back, let’s talk and think about the present.

All the best wishes for the second term of your Prime Ministership, sir!

Thank You,
Sincerely,
A vigilant citizen of this nation.
