‘Mood Analytics’ is something new for third world countries. It is based on people’s perceptions across social media platforms. This gives a general idea about the mood that people are experiencing. Politics is something which can make every head turn. You can miss various events, sports, movies, crosswords, music, fashion, and the latest trends, but you can’t turn your eyes away from diplomacy and country affairs.
It is very interesting to know that the 2014 elections actually focused more on the leader rather than the party. It was a time when all the experienced folks and seasoned campaigners decided to take the back seat and allowed the youth to come forward and take the driver’s seat.
In 2014, the youngsters were a reckoning force. People were sick of scams. We are not talking about seasoned voters. It was about the change youngsters were looking for. They wanted to change the future. The elections that were held last time were not about the party but the leader. We look forward to the 2019 elections and hope these will also focus on the leader. The stalwarts and old-timers are busy discussing party politics while the youth is concentrating on stable leadership.
The World Will Be Ruled By Nationalists
We have been listening that Nationalism is the new wave, but wait. What is Nationalism?
Simply put, it is a political system wherein one country is strongly positioned and believes that it is powerful than others.
I got a chance to watch a movie called Newton. The film’s titular character is a humble government servant. He is asked to undertake election duty in one of Bastar’s politically unstable areas. Newton tries to hold free and fair elections despite facing countless obstacles.
India is the largest democracy in the world. It houses 1.3 billion citizens from various multi-ethnic backgrounds. The local tribal inhabitants aren’t bothered about voting. They are busy quarreling. Besides, they are also not aware of the fact that casting a vote will provide them with a genuine chance to change their lives.
Rajkumar Rao plays young Nutan Kumar, who has changed his name to Newton — an obstinate government servant who shall do anything and everything in order to ensure free and fair elections. Soon enough, he learns that nothing moves without offering a bribe. Sounds a bit like Forrest Gump.
Then comes the Election Day. Rao is chosen as the presiding officer of a remote polling station in the state of Chhattisgarh, reachable only by helicopter. Anjali Patil, an educated tribal girl acts as a local liaison and decides to accompany him in order to ensure everything goes well.
On their way to the polling station, they meet Commander Atma Singh, who informs them that the Naxalites and Maoist rebels have already shot one candidate and are now threatening to disrupt the proceedings. The Commander announces quite bluntly that “no one will vote.” The rest of the film deals with Newton’s attempts to conduct free and fair elections in the district.
2019 Election – Who Will Take The throne?
So, who will conquer the world’s biggest democracy? The important question is: Who is going to win the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections?
Well, data might help you predict the outcome. Data is unbiased. It gives you a clear indication of what’s in store. Exit polls conducted in 2014 predicted a Modi-led BJP government. They were spot on. Data doesn’t lie. Data throws light on ‘who did what.’ It tells you how many schools were built in the country during a particular government’s rule. It brings to light the statistics related to unemployment. So, to top it all, data is the king.
Let us wait and see who gets to form the government in 2019. These are exciting times. Will Modi be able to retain his throne? Or will the INC return to power?
