Asansol Elections 2019: MoS Babul Supriyo Claims Presiding Officer Was Standing Behind EVMs

Union Minister of state Babul Supriyo on Tuesday prevented charges from claiming compromising race authorities at a casting a ballot corner in West Bengal amid the fourth period of the Lok Sabha decision and blamed the directing officer for stage-dealing with the surveying procedure.

“When I entered the booth, I caught the Presiding Officer standing right behind the EVM. He would have protested if I were wrong. I warned him that he is a government officer and so behave like that and do your duty accordingly,” he told news organization ANI.

After reports of Mr Supriyo’s fight with survey authorities, the Election Commission guided the police to document a body of evidence against him.

The Union Minister purportedly entered the casting a ballot stall without authorization and got into a contention with surveying authorities, following which Trinamool Congress supporters vandalized his vehicle. Photographs of the episode show the back windows of the vehicle crushed.

“The windows adjacent to electronic voting machine (EVM) were open. People from outside can actually see what is going on inside the booth. The entire set up was wrong. We had the information about all this,” Mr Supriyo said.

Specialists of the BJP and Trinamool Congress conflicted outside a surveying station in Barabani after the BJP activists requested that the casting a ballot procedure be proceeded with simply after focal powers went to the spot.

“I had the permission to enter the booth with my election agent. Then we caught the Presiding Officer red-handed. Voters in large numbers were not given a chance to enter the polling booth. TMC polling agents sitting inside had thrown BJP agents out,” Mr Supriyo said.

The BJP minister had said he would be out and about and visit each surveying station where inconvenience was accounted for. He tweeted the subtleties of a few surveying corners which were influenced by “viciousness and severe terrorizing” by individuals from the state’s decision party.

After the brutality in Asansol, decision commission declared that just focal security faculty will manage the ballot procedure in Bengal amid the fifth period of the Lok Sabha races on May 6. In the fifth stage, 578 organizations of focal powers will be sent in the seven bodies electorate heading off to the surveys, when contrasted with 562 conveyed for eight voting public in the past one.

The state police won’t be permitted inside 100 meters of the stalls, the State Special Police Observer said.
