How The Current Political Crisis Triggered My Mental Health

“Baki sab theek hai”, my spoken word poetry in Hindi depicts the mental condition of a young guy due to the current social and political situation of the country.

If you have witnessed this performance live, I’m sure you will never want to experience it again.

This is the darkest poetry I’ve ever written, and this is dark perhaps because when I wrote this piece I was going through the darkest time of my life. The social and political crisis of our country had made me a person who didn’t want to live anymore, all the newspapers and news channels were filled with cases of lynching, terror attacks, rapes of infants, murders, and what not. Though I have overcome my personal issues which were triggered due to mental harassment by an older person, the myriad crimes in our country have become an inevitable reality. As the number of days increase in the 21st century, harm from a human to other human is increasing exponentially, and the government is not a part of the solution, it is the problem.

The current sky is black, there are no rainbows, and water tastes like acid. Everyday millions of innocent people are going through hell. What if one day our country will start screaming the same words I’ve used in this poetry? Maybe in a voice which is much more intense and sharp that our ears will be damaged permanently, our eyes will be blown out and all we will be left with would be infinite darkness. What are we going to do to escape from such a situation? What are we doing to save humans and humanity? What if only humans remained, but the humanity died entirely, are we aware and ready for such consequences?
