Opinion: Of Modi, Pappu And Everything That Lies Within

It’s election time. At present, I am quite young. I hope to see a considerable number of elections in the future. Now, as far as the 2019 elections are concerned, I think I’ll learn from them for years to come. You know why? Because this time around, it’s not a battle between two parties. Presently, it’s a battle between two individuals. Modi is not the lord of the universe. In all fairness, he is just a strong candidate. On the other hand, Rahul isn’t ‘Pappu’, but a developing candidate.

What I want you to know is: I have formed an opinion, and I’m quite proud of it because I have formed an opinion without exposing myself to the garbage that seems to have taken the social media circles by storm.

Well, let’s talk of our Prime Minister. His personality and persona are the primary reasons behind his popularity. He burst into the public eye after the fall of the INC in 2014. Soon enough, he was projected as the country’s saviour. Everybody believed that ‘Achche din aa gaye(good days have arrived)’, but the splendour was short-lived. As time went by, all of us realized that the concept of ‘Achche Din‘ was nothing more than a political gimmick. Modi, despite his charismatic persona, is perhaps the weakest Prime Minister India has ever had.

Modi is just a strong candidate. On the other hand, Rahul isn’t ‘Pappu’, but a developing candidate.

Here’s a man who couldn’t face his people. His ‘56-inch ka seena(56-inch broad chest)’ was also a political gimmick and nothing more. Here’s a man who can do anything in order to gain political mileage and media attention. Remember the instance where he was seen washing the feet of a Dalit? Just take a moment and look into the schemes you have initiated. Spend some time to track their success. Also, we don’t really care about how ‘gareeb(poor)‘ you were. All we know is: You formulated a dream and served it to us, much like a  delicious seven-course platter. Today, we are left with nothing but hollow dreams.

Furthermore, the country’s Muslim population is called ‘Green Virus‘ by the Chief Minister of a state, and you’re silent. What kind of silence is this? You’ve been handing over election tickets to people who are believed to have been involved in terrorist activities. How can you stoop so low?  Instead of talking about progress and development, you’ve been politicising the Pulwama attack.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi, I must admit, serves as an inspiration to me. After witnessing a largely troubled and violent past, one that saw his grandmother and father being assassinated, he stands there confidently. He answers all the questions thrown at him with great zeal and courage. He has been at the heart of some of the most hilarious memes in the history of internet trolls. The ‘Aloo daalo sona nikaalo‘ meme featuring Rahul Gandhi has now become a part of India’s political folklore. Every single day, you get to see countless memes involving Rahul Gandhi taking over the world of internet by storm. He apologizes whenever he commits a mistake. I know he isn’t ready yet. He stumbles and isn’t too expressive either, but he comes from a family of political veterans. Simply put, Rahul Gandhi is a leader in the making. On the other hand, Modi was never supposed to be a leader.
