The Ban On Plastic Must Begin From Our University Campuses

In recent times, air pollution has become a cause of concern on a global level. It is because of the decreasing of quality of air and its harmful effect on us. It is not that the issue of air pollution did not exist earlier and is something of recent origin. However, it was not as it is today. This may be because the air pollution that happened earlier was countered by the large green cover that existed around.

Air pollution is increasing day by day and it is due to our fault and lack of awareness. If a university burns plastic garbage at mass level, what are we to expect from normal citizens?

On the campus of the Central University of South Bihar, Gaya, where the environment and law department exists, how could the administration permit such a brutal act? This is why our state is the victim of such poor quality of air.

As we know, many cities of Bihar are among the most polluted in the world. It’s really a matter of shame for the people of Bihar. According to a report by Greenpeace, our capital Patna is at the 7th rank, followed by Muzaffarpur at the13th rank and Gaya at 18th rank in the world.

As a man studying law and an active citizen of India, I think we have to start campaigning against plastic pollution, especially in our universities, and take an oath not to utilise single-use plastic bags. It can be a milestone for achieving Goal 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals.
