#BolDaal Standing up against the Air Pollution is the Need of the Hour

It is well known that pollution is the introduction of contaminants, that is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment. Air pollution refers to the entry of undesirable gaseous substance into the atmosphere, which may be catastrophic for all the living organisms present in the ecosystem.

Meanwhile, air pollution is a major concern the world is facing today, if it’s not tackled now, can lead to serious problems. Because of the air pollution, green house effect is happening, and the temperature is rising rapidly. The glaciers are melting at an ever increasing rate, because of which the sea level is also rising. Problems like this one effects not only one or two human race, but the entire humanity as well as other species.

As we have witnessed that, to overcome this rapidly increasing problem many governmental as well as non-governmental schemes, programs are manifested, but are they really working and effective? A scheme may sound like good working and productive in the first phase, but if it cannot bring any changes in the ground level then it’s of no use, rather it becomes more chaotic. For e.g.; the ODD-EVEN formula which was initiated by the AAP GOVERNMENT in Delhi failed drastically, creating havoc in the state. So, the Government must come up with precise measures to overcome the problem.

Along with the many others, I too firmly believe that one of the core solutions to overcome Air Pollution is the plantations of trees. Awareness programs motivate people for a short period of time. Governmental programs should be long-term and beneficial, so that people out of their interest get motivated to plant more and more trees. For e.g.; In the state of Assam from where I belong, the Government formulated a rule for the students belonging to BPL family, to get free enrollment in a School or College, he/she must plant a sapling and click picture to show evidence, for further admission to the next session he/she must again click picture with the same sapling he/she planted a year ago. In this way the government ensures that widespread plantations take place with a lot of caring.

At the end, I would like to put this remarks that the problem also lies within us. We do not know how many times we unintentionally pollute this environment on a daily basis. For the reduction of unwanted gaseous substances from the ecosystem, we the citizen should adopt eco-friendly lifestyle, such as bicycling to work if near or using public transportation if it’s far, factories should be equipped with advance chimneys so that toxicity in the ecosystem is reduced and everyone should plant at least 5-10 trees in a year.

Lastly, the state machinery and law will not succeed alone in preventing and overcoming these environmental problems until we change our mindsets and those daily habits and practices that cause an increase in the pollutants. We have already harmed the earth enough, now it’s time each of us to awake for the environmental problems, when the environment needs us the most.
