“The common man’s life should be more valuable than a company’s profit, shouldn’t it?”

Imagine ,you kiss your child good night. You go back to your room to sleep.During the night, poisonous gases fill your child’s room, suffocating her .The gases enter your room, killing you too.I am sorry to create this terrific visual, and hope and pray this never happens to you.

However ,this is precisely what happened to thousands of families in Bhopal in 1984.

Poisonous pesticide factory so close to the city, poor maintenance of equipment ,cutting corners on safety by management, previous warnings about plant safety, labour issues-all these have been identified by studies, post the incident.             Let no doubt, the government is as much a culprit in Bhopal as Union Carbide.

This was just one case…Three Mile Island meltdown, London’s Killer Fog, The Nuclear Power Plant Explosion in Chernobyl of Ukraine , The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, British Petroleum Oil Spill of Gulf of Mexico  ; Jilin Chemical Plant Explosions , Tisza/Baia Mare Cyanide Spill  , E-waste in Guiyu of China ….etc..makes it big to the list of air pollution disasters happened in the world .These all continue to be plane examples of why still an ordinary man’s life is valued lesser than a corporate company’s profit!!!

“Air pollution “-the very word gives you the image of burning fossil fuels and smokes coming out of your automobiles and industries…But is that all about air pollution?

Natural air pollutants include pollen, spores, marsh gas, volcanic gases and synthesis of harmful chemicals by electric storms and solar flares, from smoking to burning crackers and agarbattis ,all prove to be causes of air pollution. Though the major cause of pollution in the urban areas remains to be  automobiles itself which inefficiently burn petroleum, releases 75% of noise and 80% of air pollutants. Concentration of industries in one area is an issue which we all know but  tries to be blind towards thinking about a further step in its change for good. Acid rain and ground level ozones express to be the deadliest after effects which are expectable.

I strongly beleive –right planning and proper implementation are the two components of a governing body which can make great changes ,improvements and replenishments by their constant and tremendous effort. All lost is not lost however. We can still learn our lessons and do a couple of things right. One,our laws need to be amended for corporate disasters. Another step of reconciliation of an ordinary man’s pleas with government services comes with the disclosure of politician-industrialist socializing. I am sure Anderson(Bhopal Gas Tragedy) knew the right people. What about the little child? Neither she had the contacts nor a government representative who would bang his fists on the table to get her justice.

All i have to conclude is “Mighty drops of water make a mighty ocean“-

this very own sentence says it all , the cause , results and the solution even!

may be for you today its ” a” car,in the same way it is for 133.92 crores living in this  country

what if we all chose to take use of public transports? what if we all stay strong and united enough towards reconciliation of our earth?

what if we maximised our use of  recycled products?

Recycled products have already been extracted and processed once, manufacturing the same products the second time is much less-energy intensive and polluting.

what if we consume less and use sustainable products??

Consuming less and thinking twice before buying new item is the best you can do for the environment and the air quality. If you need to buy new products, whatever they are, support local companies that are committed to sustainable manufacturing practices and reducing pollution in the air.

what if we eat local and organic produce & eat less meat?

A very important step to take in regard to your consumption pattern is to eat less meat. You may have heard already about the significant greenhouse gas footprint of the modern livestock industry. By going meatless some days a week or eating maximum 90 grams of meat a day, you will lower air pollution and will even benefit your health (and wallet – since plant-based diet is cheaper).

what if we grew our own products and grew seasonal products ,planted indoor plants, used natural products and non-toxic cleaners?

yes it would all mean you step towards your healthy green foliage which would ripen the fruits of irreproachable life .…..
