Let your head held high, your rainbow flags fly. It’s Pride Month! Love whom you love! This is a story to commemorate the Stonewall Riots of June 28, 1969.
The world is a blissful place. Love is a feeling we fondle. And that feeling should not hold any differentiation, should not face any disparity. It’s been a very long time that queer people have been facing this incongruity in society, but after the Supreme Court verdict decriminalising homosexuality, not anymore.
Let’s lift the weight from our shoulders. It is revolutionary for every LGBTQIA+ person to be seen, visible, and to be able to say “We exist, and we are accepted.”
We Are One, Love Is One
Everything having been behind a wall till now may have been very suffocated. So, as we celebrate Pride Month in June, we should also make way for Coming Out, Questioning, and Understanding. Our society consists of all kinds—be it Supporters, Haters, Hypocrites, Homophobes, and even some ‘Vile Heterosexuals’. It can be (and it has been) a very common issue of “THEM” and US”. There has always been “THEM” and “US”, but never a “WE”.
When it comes to talking about how much better things have gotten after Section 377 was read down, saying that it was an important move is an understatement. Outing And Being in the Closet are still issues, but still people are now standing fervent about who they are.
Where people bring up “Queer” as an umbrella identity, we are now starting to hear about “bisexuality”, “pansexuality”, “omnisexuality”, and many more sexual orientations.
Not everyone may not be acquainted with Havelock Ellis’ “Sexual Inversion“; not everyone is aware about the “Uranian” lover; not every knows about the handkerchief code that homosexual men created in order to find each other; and not everyone is even aware of biphobia as it exists. But love is spreading. And communicating its message should not be taboo anymore.
Nothing is ‘a shame’.
