Learning App Byju’s Replaces Oppo Mobiles As Sponsor For The Indian Cricket Team

Two weeks after the cricket world cup, the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India has announced that India’s most popular education and learning app Byju’s will be the new sponsor for the Indian cricket team for a three-year period.

The Indian cricket team will wear the new brand named jersey in the series against South Africa that will be held on September 15. Byju’s will replace the Chinese smartphone company Oppo. The deal between BCCI and Oppo was linked in 2017 for a five-year period. In 2017, Oppo won the Team India jersey sponsorship rights with a ₹1079 crore bid, outbidding Vivo mobiles’ ₹768 crore bid.

Oppo was currently paying ₹4.61 crore per bilateral match to BCCI as per the deal. Now it has to exit because the value or amount that it received in 2017 is extremely high. As per reports, BCCI will receive the same amount from Byju’s for the entire duration.

Chief Executive of BCCI Rahul Johri congratulated and welcomed Byju’s as the new sponsor of the Indian cricket team and also thanked Oppo for their partnership. Byju’s founder Byju Raveendran said that he is proud to be the Indian cricket team’s sponsor. On the other side, Oppo India said that they would like to thank team India and BCCI for this wonderful journey.

Byju’s is a leading education and learning app in India and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is its brand ambassador. The new deal with Byju’s will begin from September 5, 2019 and will end on March 31, 2022.

“Just like cricket, Byju’s a learning app, always inspires the love of learning in every child’s heart,” said the founder. Byju’s will be taking over all the rights of Oppo Mobiles India Private Limited and logo of Byju’s will be seen on the Indian cricket team jersey, South Africa series onward.
