In Today’s World, Seeking Professional Help For Mental Health And Self-Care Is Important!

Cognitive thinking and associated skills depend upon the environment one resides in. It is very important to keep in view the immediate surrounding for the holistic development of one’s personality. The mental status of a person clearly defines the way one behaves, adapts and adjusts to the environment. In the present times, due to peer pressure, workload and meaningless racing in the competitive world, our mental health gets compromised upon.

Thus, it is important for everyone irrespective of their professions to get hold of their emotions while surviving the competitive world. Be it the corporate world or teaching, a persistently low mood, frequent mood swings, and a feeling of inadequacy can easily be symptoms of depression and it can claim everyone, sparing no young, adult or elder.

One must learn how to streamline one’s emotions so as to be in touch with oneself.

Expressing Oneself

Extroverts are often expressive and introverts are less expressive, basically, the way of expressing oneself varies from person to person. What needs to be understood is, one must not get confused between the attributes of introversion and depression. Being an introvert is part of one’s personality but depression is a mental health issue that needs care and attention.

Seek Therapy

People avoid seeking professional help and therapy in fear of being judged and considered abnormal by society. This is almost a taboo in Indian society, though things are slowly changing. The first and foremost step is to seek therapy that heals slowly and steadily. It is important to note here that teachers are more prone to anxiety and persistent depressive disorders.

Look For Positivity

The notion of always being perfect is a myth. In search of that, the positive side of the people often gets badly affected. Depression needs to be overcome by staying positive and believing that less than perfect is also close to good, better and also can be best.

Avoiding A Toxic Environment

One’s surroundings play a very important role in a person’s life. One adapts and adjust accordingly to their surroundings. A difficulty may breed more difficulty, though a sense of plenty has never been a deterrent for a diagnosis of depression.

Back To Work With Ease

Going back to one’s old job after becoming a new mother is hard. It is difficult to secure a balance between both duties. Many mothers find it difficult to return back to a job they once loved to the core. One must see this phase as a new age of learning, regardless of the choice made by the mother. This will not only ease their mind but become a source for hope and motivation.

Prioritize Self-Care

Talking or opening about being in depression is considered absurd in today’s world; where it is still considered a taboo. But after the stage of professional counselling, it is also advisable to prioritize self-care. We as humans have many priorities in our day to day lists and it is time that self-care garners the number one spot. In this fast-paced world, it is necessary to take care of oneself so as to remain active, stable and motivated.

In a report presented by WHO, it has been observed that work has a negative impact on an individual if the work environment is toxic. Globally, it has been estimated that more than 300 million people suffer from depression. This is a staggering number. It is important to garner sensitisation and affordable therapy so as to tackle depression at the earliest.
