Sacred Games Season 2: This Is Why Fans Are So Excited!

Let’s get one thing straight! Sacred Games Season 1 was a hit. And it had every right to be one. The compelling story of Ganesh Gaitonde (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui) had everyone idolizing the character. Even merchandise was released with quotes such as “Kabhi kabhi lagta hai apun hi Bhagwan hai” (sometimes it feels as if I am God) said by the great Ganesh Bhau.

Now, as we are eagerly waiting for the next season to be released on August 15, 2019, let’s take a look at the aspects that get us excited for the next season of the crazy ride that is Sacred Games.

The Cast

First of all, please welcome the one and only Ganesh Gaitonde (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui). The first season ended in suspense as we were left with two unanswered questions, “25 din baad aakhir hoga kya?” (what is going to happen in 25 days?) and “Ganesh Gaitonde ke teesre baap ne use dhokha kaise diya?” (how did Ganesh Gaitonde’s third father betray him eventually?)

These and many other questions will be answered this Independence Day. Of course, Mr. Gaitonde will be making a comeback in this one.

Also reappearing in the role of Sartaj Singh is another favorite, Saif Ali Khan. This season will follow him as he continues to uncover the mystery of what would happen in 25 days. It’ll be great to see him finally solving the mystery after going through so much trouble in the first season.

By the looks of the teaser, many new faces will be seen including Ranvir Shorey as Shahid Khan and Kalki Koechlin as Batya Ableman. We’ll also see more of Pankaj Tripathi in the role of Khanna Guruji, the third father of Ganesh Gaitonde.

The cast seems promising and with the new characters, the story seems to be getting even more exciting.

The Teaser/Cast Reveal

On May 6, 2019, Netflix uploaded the cast reveal video of Sacred Games Season 2 on their YouTube channel which has amassed more than 5M views since. This video acted as a teaser for the follow-up season of the series as it had two familiar yet unfamiliar faces, Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey. The cast reveal video proved to be very effective as most of the people were excited, whereas some were excited as well as pissed off at Netflix for not showing the release date.

The Trailer

The trailer was released on Netflix India’s YouTube channel on July 9, 2019. It starts with the ringing of an alarm clock and Bunty (played by Jatin Sarna) answering a phone call from Gaitonde. A shocked Bunty asks Gaitonde where he is. Then after a swift flashback of the scenes from Season 1, comes Gaitonde saying that he didn’t know where he was, he just wanted revenge. The trailer then becomes a crazy ride of dialogues, bomb blasts, and other awesome stuff.

We’ll even get to see Gaitonde sitting on an office table wearing a suit, which is just crazy and so unlike him. Then we hear Gaitonde telling Sartaj that this game is bigger than them. Also, there’s a scene where the police officers are reading from a piece of paper “get ready for war.” There’s so much going on in this trailer that you’ll have to watch it yourself to fully get the essence of it. Anyways, the trailer ends with the camera zooming in of Sartaj (played by Saif Ali Khan) as we can hear Khanna Guruji (played by Pankaj Tripathi) chanting in the background.

The trailer features the opening music of the show and the masterpiece ‘Kaam 25’ by the G.O.A.T. DIVINE who created the song for the series itself.

It’s been around two weeks since the trailer was released and it has since amassed 11.7M views on YouTube with 356K likes. The trailed did justice to the hype created by the first season and it shows that the next season will also be a banger.

Will It Live Up To The Hype?

I believe that the upcoming season of Sacred Games will surely live up to the hype created by the trailer and the first season of the series. Well, will it really? Only time will tell.

I just know that I am one of those people who is eagerly waiting and clearing their schedules for August 15, 2019.

“Ab ki baar… Trivedi bhi nahi bachega.” (this time around, even Trivedi won’t be spared)

Goosebumps!
