What Is The Patna University Incubation Hub And How Is It Changing Bihar?

The Patna University Incubation Hub (PUI – Hub ) which was recently opened in the month of January 2019 is at Patna University Campus. It was proposed and designed by Ranjan Mistry, the youngest Social Entrepreneur from Bihar and approved by the Patna University Committee.

PUI-Hub is the first of its kind Incubation Center in any university of Bihar which gives an amazing platform to students, alumni, and professors to start their venture and convert their ideas into reality.

Exactly a year ago, ( 23rd July 2018), I got a call from the Vice-Chancellor of Patna University for a meeting regarding the discussion on my proposal to develop Patna University Incubation Hub. After almost six months of discussions with Students Unions, Professors, Students, and the administration, Dr Supriya Vatsa told the Vice-Chancellor that there is a young boy who is roaming inside the campus to develop something which is good for our university on the evening of 22nd July.

He asked her for my number and called me for a meeting in the early morning at his residence and finally, on this day, 23rd July, the Patna University Incubation Hub was founded. After that, Dr-Ashok Kumar Jha, assistant professor of the Physics Department helped me to make this proposal a reality.

23rd July will always be known as the foundation day of PUI-Hub.

In the month of January, VC Sir AND Pro VC Mam of Patna University announced its establishment and was everything in the pipeline. Finally, in the month of July, it was officially documented.

PUI – Hub provides valuable support to the students and alumni of Patna University to enable them to translate their ideas and innovation in various disciplines of Arts, science, technology into products, processes and services for commercial exploitation and for the larger benefit of society. PUI-Hub is an innovation centre and accelerator on the Patna University Campus. PU has 10 institutions which consist of 40000 students, 1500 faculty, and researchers. PUI – Hub goal is to create focused groups who will work on solving real-world problems, incubate them, provide them opportunities for skill development and aid creation of new ventures.

Patna University Incubation Hub has 3 Pillars, that help us to grow and strengthen our ecosystem.
  1. Incubation – Incubation is a unique and highly flexible combination of business development processes, infrastructure and people designed to nurture new and small businesses by helping them to survive and grow through the difficult and vulnerable early stages of development.
  2. E-Cell – The Entrepreneurship Cell is a non-profit organisation run by the students that aim at manifesting the latent entrepreneurial spirit of the young students. The Mission of the entrepreneurship cell is to contribute to India’s development by promoting entrepreneurship among the youth because we believe entrepreneurs will change the nation for the better.
  3. Co-Working Space – Coworking is a style of work that involves a shared workplace, often an office, and independent activity. Unlike in a typical office, coworking is usually not employed by the same organisation. Typically, it is attractive to work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, independent scientists or people who travel frequently who end up working in relative isolation. Coworking is a social gathering of a group of people who are still working independently, but who share values and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with people who value working in the same place alongside each other. Coworking offers a solution to the problem of isolation that many freelancers experience while working at home, while at the same time letting them escape the distractions of home. It generally costs money in the form of membership dues, though some spaces are free of charge.
