You See ‘A Girl In A Wheelchair’, And I See A Woman Who Published Her First E-Book!

Do you think that a writer with a disability will write only about something related to disability? Let me break this stereotype in this article today.

Only recently, my book “Vinayana’s World” was released on 17th July, 2019 Amazon as an eBook. It contains short stories offering a wide range of emotions and feelings about the society’s existing perspectives on various issues. Some of the themes in my book include equal work opportunities, raising a girl child, and changing the idea of a healthy relationship, to name a few.

The theme of relationships might seem outdated but some of the stories really bring out different aspects of it. “We’re having a Baby” or “A Toxic Relationship” are stories that talk about versions of new age relationships and their problems.

Most of my stories are in a ‘Chat’ format. I know most people of my age aren’t interested in reading long stories. They like crisp and meaningful stories, and that form is my style!

People often ask me this question, why “Vinayana’s World”? This book is a journey that reflects the one I made in my own mind. I am a girl on wheelchair, with whom people don’t really talk much. I’m a third wheel in almost every conversation. People don’t really talk to me directly, and this is the root from where my stories grow.

I remember overhearing broken bits of conversations about me. I remember when someone pointed at my wheelchair and said I didn’t belong out there with them. All these experiences contain tales in them and I just pen them down on my mobile phone.

My inspiration for this book was the anger within me that made me want to tell you the truth. The whole truth. I was angry that I didn’t have a mission in life. I was upset because of the monotony in my life. But one day, things took a new direction. A friend of mine was telling me about how he had publishing his eBook on Amazon Kindle—I now had a goal! So, I started writing and compiling my stories and made them into a book.

I have received a lot of positive and encouraging responses from the people who purchased my book. They told me it took them on an insightful journey, one they hadn’t experienced (especially with such intense emotions) in a long while. And to the people who have just begun reading my book, I look forward to their reviews!

I’m on the top of the world right now because I can call myself a published author now. It was a dream that has now come true. I had never imagined that I could have published a book on my own via Kindle. This has come like a blessing to me and I assure you that, for this young writer, this is just the start.
