Are We Truly Independent?

Representational image.

The picture is still the same.

A question that needs to be appropriately addressed is “What is freedom?”. The perfect answer can be derived from your own exploration. Let me share some experiences with you.

Once I saw an old lady at the bank. I settled my things in an hour and was about to leave the place. No one was there to help her out. No one was ready to leave their comfort zone. Yes, I am talking about staff only. Even the Branch Manager ignored her. Then I realized this lady was from a low-income family, and that’s why it was happening with her. Everyone was aware of the fact that the lady cannot file a complaint. Now ask yourself a question: is freedom really all about your comfort zone?

I think you are all aware of the fact that your neighbours are automatically entitled as your advisors. You can call them judges too. Their imagination skills are outstanding. Their way of narrating the story will render you speechless. Your parents may not be as quick to calculate your exact age as them. Your parents can not classify your character, but these geniuses will. Now, let me ask you: is freedom about poking your nose in other’s matters unnecessarily? Is it about judging everyone except yourself?

Whenever I watch television, I realise that it’s so easy to divide us. We all are busy in proving ourselves. Let it be my religion, my political party, my work… blah blah. Just assume that in this rat race, we have achieved the tag of ‘greatness’ in our respective fields. But is the tag of ‘Great Political Party’ going to solve the problems of my country? Is the tag of ‘great religion’ going to eliminate the sufferings of humanity? Nothing will change like this unless everyone gives up the tag of being great. This can be done only by sharing.

So ask yourself: is freedom just about dividing people for your gain? Is it about being happy at the cost of making other people sad? Is it only about you?

Just steer your neurons in a positive direction. That day we will be free.
