There is a growing trend of aping Western cultures like one night stands and hookup cultures in Indian youth. And most people tend to demean all the traditional customs and practices in the name of patriarchy. One such custom is arranged marriage. Few of my thoughts based on traditional customs and liberalism.
Age
Most of the girls after passing their “marriagable age” of early twenties, crib about why the prospective groom looks for younger brides. Well, this is how this works. One of women’s biggest asset is their age and youth, which fades with time while the men’s main asset is their ability to be provider and protector. Even if we consider biology, it is both difficult for women to concieve after the age of 30 and the children born also tend to have higher chances of having congenital problems like Down sydrome etc. Men also have such problems but the difference between men and women is more than 10 years to have such issues. So, yes age certainly is the major factor in marriage.
Lifestyle
Another thing that women today crib about is the non-acceptance of their boyfriends and their promsicous behavior for marriage. It is also scientific proven fact that such women tend to make weak pair bonds and such marriages don’t last long.
Job after marriage is also another concern. In Japan, society gives choice to women to either choose career or family. Chosing both only results in unnecessary stress and underdelivering in both areas.
Conclusion
There is simple conclusion that is beneficial for both women and society. Women have the liberty to make choices and they are also the one to bear the results. If you fit in such a catergory as most women do then it is better to look someone with similar idelogy or to stay away from marriage altogether. Society today accepts single unmarried women and it is win-win situation for most women. Having kids only undermine the freedom and liberty of women and most feminists chose to remain single and without children these days. Women could keep their jobs, lifestyle, friends, collegues and everything else without sacrificing anything. Raising family and kids is patriarchal tradition which only those couples should choose who believe in values like chastity, monogamy etc. Marriage in today’s age of women equality doesn’t make any sense for liberal women and there is nothing a liberal women would gain from such marriages. Liberal women could get all the benefits of marriage just by remaining single.
Marriages are made in heaven for those who believe in heavens and act accordingly
