Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old climate activist, is one in a million indeed. And certainly, she is an inspiration for millennials and others. Greta carries the gravity of climate change on her face. It is so deeply engraved in the way she speaks that one can sense a sign of urgency, the terror of a man-made apocalypse approaching.

Her recent speech at the UN caught attention from across the world. When Greta, filled with rage, sobbed and questioned: “How dare you?” It sent a bone-chilling experience down everyone’s spine. She blasted all by saying, “For more than 30 years the science has been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away, and come here saying that you are doing enough when the politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight.” On being asked what message you have for the present generation, she said, “we are watching you”.

The teenager trailblazer on climate change activist even avoided using aircraft to reach the USA to attend the summit. She slammed world leaders but also showed a few rays of optimism. She said, “You say you ‘hear’ us and that you understand the urgency. But no matter how sad and angry I am, I don’t want to believe that. Because if you fully understood the situation, still kept on failing to act, then you would be evil. And I refuse to believe that.” She took on world leaders over their vision of building economies and ignoring the “dying” ecosystem.

Greta started her journey as a solo warrior. She started her solo revolution at a very young age with a small step: skipping school to protest outside the Swedish parliament every Friday, holding up a sign calling for stronger climate action. Now she is the face of the climate change movement. She is someone who has made the impossible possible. She pursued what she believed in without giving any second thought, and her faith made her intention a reality. Prodigies like “the Great” Greta go down in histories because now, the whole world looks at her with hopeful eyes.
