Humans Are Never At Peace: Our Thirst For More Is Unlimited

“Why do you worry unnecessarily?

Whom do you fear?

Who can kill you?

The soul is neither born nor can it die.”

-Lord Krishna

We have read these lines a number of times. We all know that there will be laughter after pain. There will be sunshine after rain. But still, this word ‘worry’ does not spare our neurons for even a fraction of a second.

Just give yourself a moment and wonder…

Are we really worried about “roti, kapda, aur makkhan” (food and clothes)

We all know the answer to this question. It’s a big no.

Gradually, our desires are shifting to getting fancy wheels, a luxury house, food from Zomato, branded clothes, expensive mobile phones, etc. This shift is because we love to evaluate ourselves through the eyes of others. In this evaluation, we forget to find out what the unit of measurement is. The result is “aamdani atthanni kharcha rupaiya” (a popular saying which means one’s expenses are greater than the wages). Then we say “zindagi ne zindagi bhar gham diye” (life has just been a pain)

That’s why most of us are unhappy with our current state, we keep thinking “yeh dil maange more” (this heart wants more). Ultimately our thirst is unlimited. This desire, of having more and more, leads to ‘n’ number of worries in our life. We become a passionate member of the rat race. We want to win this race by hook or by crook. We are ready to forget the peace, our values, relations, self-respect, etc.

Unfortunately, we are trying to clean the glass with dirty hands. Is it possible to do so? If yes, then keep it up. Make your hands dirtier. Otherwise, clean your hands and then give it a try.

Dear readers, it’s not bad to have such demands.  There is, however, a need to understand if that is truly our own demand. Our demands should not be derived from the taste of others. No one can evaluate us truly. Neither over-evaluation nor under-evaluation is required. Just go for the right evaluation. Live peacefully and stay healthy. Live and let live.
