Society’s Beauty Standards Will Get Old But Being Comfortable With Yourself Won’t

Do you think you’re beautiful? What is beauty?

Well, if you ask me, beauty is happiness. Beauty is “feeling comfortable in your own skin”. Beauty is surely defined in many ways. By society, by the people around us, by us. I have come across people who believe that a certain person is beautiful because they have fair skin, or big eyes, or thin lips, or shiny long hair.

All of you who are reading this, please take a moment and picture a beautiful woman in your mind.
You may think of a celebrity, a friend, or a loved one. But take a moment to imagine her face, her body, her posture and her attitude.

Now think of a beautiful woman in the 1800s. If a woman considered to have incomparable beauty in the 18th century was transported to 2018, she would most likely not be called beautiful.

Beauty is actually moulded by society—by the advertising, fashion and cosmetic industries. We live in a society of billboards and ads, Photoshop and botox. But to be honest, you are beautiful whether you have fair skin or dark, whether you have long hair or short, whether you’re a size two or twelve, whether you have big breasts or small (yeah I wrote that word, get over it!).

In the next 50-100 years, the standards for beauty will once again change. Society’s standards of beauty will get old, but being comfortable with yourself never will. ❤️ #beauty
