Nadal And Bianca Are The Winners Of US Open Tennis Titles

Nadal

What remains the most interesting point of the recently concluded U.S Open Tennis Final, for the spectators at Arthur Ash Stadium,  is that the rivals in both the men’s and women’s singles were far younger than their senior opponents. In one match, the junior player claimed the title, while in another encounter, the senior player emerged as the winner. Both the junior players got entry into the 5th final fight for the first time.

serving in the final for the first time, 23-year-old Russian Daniil Medvedev- a decade younger than Rafael Nadal- played well by bringing a change into his tested styles. He did something quite unexpected which even delighted the crowd. But Nadal, a more skilful player, managed to counter his dominance. Nadal took 4 hours and 50 minutes to gain his victory, thereby achieving his fourth championship title at Flushing Meadows on Sunday night. His record is one major trophy away from Swiss professional player, Roger Federer’s record of Grand Slam titles.

Saturday night was also memorable for an emerging young tennis star Bianca Andreescu, who is still in her teens, for achieving a similar feat, which was registered in the name of Maria Sharapova in 2006. If the experience was everything then she would not have emerged as a winner in the U.S Open final. There is always a possibility of luck favouring a player in a game. This fact has been corroborated by her maiden victory of women’s singles title by 6-3, and a 7-5 scoreline in the Open era, which opened a good opportunity for many professionals, to enter the majors in the year 1968.

This was Serena Williams’ second consecutive loss in the U.S Open final match. The young Canadian player said that her dream had come true at Flushing Meadows, where tennis lovers throng like buzzing bees. She apologised to the packed crowd for defeating Serena. In obvious terms, it was expected of her stature to fight back. She expressed her deep elation for the victory and managed to win at last, in every possible way.

Somewhere concealing her concern for not reaching the 24th win, the American star, Serena Williams unflinchingly made it clear that she was proud of Bianca, who put up a remarkable fight and played an unbelievable final match.

It was a significant and incredible tennis match out there. If anyone could win this out of Venus, it was Bianca. I am extremely happy about this result. What remains worth remembering of this match is a young girl, standing tall over the veteran rival, and a vociferous crowd chanting, which was echoing all around. The celebrated grand dame of tennis was defeated, despite waging desperate fightback in the second half. She was gobsmacked and this was her destiny. Sometimes, not everything goes according to one’s wishes. Williams missed her chance like she had last year.
