The Chandrayaan-2 Landing Is A Sure Victory For Me!

I don’t really agree with the fact that our Mission Chandrayaan-2 failedISRO lost contact with Vikram just before it was to land. Unfortunately, there is no broadcast system in the moon to confirm if Vikram had really touched the lunar surface.

However, for me, Chandrayaan-2 is successful in many more aspects.

It was the first space mission to conduct a soft-landing on the moon’s south polar region. ISRO’s home-grown technology was used to make this possible. India may be the fourth country to conduct a soft-landing on the lunar surface, but the total cost was much cheaper than other counties. Indian scientists and engineers always stand out! We know how to use limited resources to invent, innovate and impact.

Moreover, two women scientists, Muthayya Vanitha and Ritu Karidhal, were at the helm of this mission. Globally, the representation of women in science and technology is low. So, as an Indian woman in the same field, I am really proud of my nation.

If one were to really think about the impact of this mission, you can come to the conclusion that it has the potential to improve our day-to-day life too.

As a PLM consultant, I was curious to know what kind of advanced life-cycle management and simulation system ISRO used to manage the Vikram Lander.

I know they are using very advanced technology, which is not available in the market. However, I think five years down the line, these kinds of technology will be available to improve our day-to-day life. I feel that these kinds of technologies could be probably used for waste management, land recovery, or to plant trees in our terrace, or a sky-walk. I feel that these kinds of technologies could be much cheaper than the technologies we probably procure from other countries.

Moreover, the cost of Chandrayaan-2 is much lesser than the Statue of Unity. If you think about ‘value proposition’, then I think the Statue of Unity is nothing in front of Chandrayaan 2.

Please don’t try to give credit to our politicians. It will humiliate and dismiss the hard work and dedication of our ISRO scientists and engineers.

Someone made a joke when a tea-seller was discussing Chandrayaan-2. I am really happy that the tea-seller was discussing the moon landing instead of discussing rituals that depend on the lunar position.

Science is everywhere in our day to day life. Our science is deep-rooted, even behind why the tea maker boils the water before putting tea leaves into it.

So, India is finally talking about science and technology, and of course, about space. instead of political and religious bigotry. Here lies the real victory of Chandrayaan-2.

I hope Chandrayaan 2 will inspire us to be more scientific instead of superstitious, and be a leader in the latest technologies, instead of just being a slave to it.
