‘Jal Shakti Kanyas’ Are All Set To Support The Global Climate Strike On September 20th!

Climate Hug is a love for those which are eco-friendly & do not emit GHGs. This is a love for renewables.

When we search for the meaning of the word ‘hug’, we find that it means to hold someone or something tightly in one’s arms especially to express affection.

According to Wikipedia, “a hug can indicate familiarity, love, affection, friendship, brotherhood, sympathy, support, comfort, and consolation, particularly where words are insufficient.”

Furthermore, other definitions suggest, “a hug usually demonstrates affection and emotional warmth. A hug can be practised publicly and privately without stigma in many countries, religions and cultures, within families, and also across age and gender lines, but is generally an indication that people are familiar with each other. Moving from a handshake (or touch-free) relationship to a hug relationship is a sign of a closer friendship such as best friends.

What Is A ‘Climate Hug’?

A ‘Climate Hug’ is affection, love and friendship with those things which are eco-friendly and able to save the world from climate change.

The whole world is facing climate change and climate crisis because of anthropogenic activities; deforestation, urbanization, industrialization, pollution and increasing human population, which are raising GHGs emission by 2ppm/year and causing warming of the earth. Melting of polar ice, oceanic acidification, increasing global temperature, flood, drought, increasing sea level and depleting biodiversity are important impacts of ‘Climate Change’. The growing intensity of wildfires and their spread to new corners of the globe raises fears that climate change is exacerbating the dangers.

We are in a climate emergency and it is need of the hour to take urgent climate action.

On September 20, 2019, the ‘Water Conservation Girls’ or ‘Jal Shakti Kanya‘, in Alinagar Kenjra village of District Firozabad of Uttar Pradesh province of India, will organise a ‘Climate Hug’ to show their support for the ‘Global Climate Strike‘. These girls will hug trees after binding ‘Red Tape’ on the trunks and take an oath to save nature.

They will deliver the message to the world, to take climate action and live an eco-friendly life every second, to save the future. Climate action should be in our deeds and daily life. We should love and use only those products which don’t release GHGs into the atmosphere. We must use renewable forms of energy and reduce dependence on fossil energy.

A ‘Climate Hug’ is climate action and a drive (under ‘Red Tape Movement‘ by Prabhat Misra ) to show your love and live your life in favour of climate-friendly products, trees, biodiversity, plastic-free and pollution-free society.

Let’s come and be part of it on September 20th, 2019 and every day.
