Everyone Must Know About The Land Of Gold And Silver And Learn From History

History is considered as a silent storyteller as well as a subject, which makes someone patriotic and erupts feelings of nationalism. History is not all about past events or activities, it is way more than all these things and has broader aspects which every individual must know. History has been printed with many battles, bloodbath, struggles and many more, but today’s young minds can learn multifarious lessons out of it.

To begin with, firstly, let me highlight some glimpses of our wonderful country India, which was known as the land of gold and silver. In the ancient or medieval era, trade-in India used to happen with gold and silver, further India accumulated so much wealth that the entire Europe of today’s time could have survived by that wealth during that era. Animals such as elephants or horses, using which rulers or kings used to travel, these animals used to have gold jewellery on their body for decorative purposes. The temples, which were not only the cultural hub but also the place of social activities, had surplus wealth in the form of gold and silver.

But, the questions are?

Why did we not use utilise that wealth?

Where did we lack?

What were the shortcomings?

Here, I would like to highlight about all these things, because many people do not have knowledge about their own country and consider other countries of the world superior and developed. If we go to the roots of this country, in-depth, we will have a fairly comprehensive idea about it.

In History, many dynasties ruled India and promoted urbanization. India was the largest exporter of silk, textiles and many more. We did not have any dependency on any country, unlike today, on account of globalization. This was perhaps due to our fertile land, and there was enormous cultivation, which in turn again made India a centre of attraction for many foreign invaders who came to India, later ruled and looted it.

Many invaders came to India not to rule, but to take wealth from it. For instance, Mahmud Ghaznavi took wealth from India by destroying many temples, one of which is the Somnath temple. Similarly, Babur (Founder of Mughal dynasty) came to India not with an intention to rule over it but to take wealth from it and help decline poverty, which was extreme in Kabul, where he used to rule. However, later, he ruled over India due to the inability of Indian rulers, as they were busy fighting each other and lacked completely in unity.

Here, the biggest lesson is that just due to lack of unity, we let the invaders loot or plunder our country across its length to breadth. Europeans came to India, seeing the lure of wealth here, as well as by seeing the quality of spices and many more things. India was a cash cow for them.

We all are still lacking today. Britishers, the biggest European power, who ruled India for many years, took advantage of the lack of unity in Indian rulers. They looted and trashed the Indian economy drastically, thus, leaving India as barren land. They took wealth from India and sent it to their native countries and considered themselves superior.

In addition, in history, we can see that our country always remained a land of values, cultures, traditions, forgiveness, but due to lack of unity, we gave a chance to the foreign invaders to rule our land. Consequently, the time has come to become unite now and do not let others rule or dominate our country, those who are trying to make our country look inferior in every way.
