Deepak Punia, the current junior World Champion became the fifth Indian to reach the finals at senior world championships. Sushil Kumar is the only Indian wrestler who won a gold medal at the World Championship in the 2010 edition. In this edition, he had started his training with a Russian coach to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics after securing a win at the World Championship.,However, he lost the first round in the 74 kg category.

The World Wrestling Championship 2019 was held in Nur Sultanin Kazakhstan, and this was the best show ever for India, India won five medals in total, four bronze and one silver. Previously, our best performance was in 2013 when India won three medals including two bronze and one silver.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya, who participated in the World Wrestling Championship for the first time, ended the session securing a bronze medal. Rahul Aware secured bronze after defeating America’s Tyler Lee Graff. He was fighting for bronze after losing in the semis to Georgia’s Beko Lomtadze.

This is probably the best performance by the wrestlers from India’s side. This will give the Indian wrestlers strength to do well in the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Now, the whole nation is expecting gold medals from our wrestlers in the upcoming Olympics. But winning a gold medal in the Olympics is not so easy. They need to work hard for that, they need to practice hard, they need to follow the proper diet and training because practice makes one perfect.
