Being an invitee to the Youth Parliament, I was fortunate to witness and hear the dreams and aspirations of the youths of Ri Bhoi district.
These youths through their debate on education, health, and other social aspects expressed their appreciation to the government for equipping the public with the necessities of life like food, shelter, and others. However, at the same time, other youths were quick to express their dissatisfaction of the various ailments infecting our society like malnutrition, homelessness, children dropping out of schools and other issues.
At this forum, I could also witness the healthy competition among the youths having no malice for one another during their arguments through their passion for what they stood up for was really intense.
Mr Herroi, a youth like many other NYK volunteers have really made a difference in the lives of the rural folks. Many self-help groups have been formed because of him. He took the initiative to create awareness among the rural folks, men and women about the importance of SHGs. He literally taught them how to maintain registers, records and even how to approach banking institutions for financial assistance thus making a big impact in transforming them economically.
Hence, I would wish NYK all the best and hope their dedication to the youth of Ri Bhoi district will bring great leaders and great citizens of India.
