Is Our Media Still Democratic?

I don’t know how to do this aptly as I am doing it for the first time!

This is the first time I am writing something I have observed, and I know I might be trolled a lot, maybe even called an “anti-national”—which is the trend nowadays—but call me whatever you want I care about this country as much as a pro-nation individual defined by today’s nationalists. I can’t help but wonder what is happening in our media, which is just being noisy and wants to please the central government. They are just howling and screaming, and I know media is democratic, but seeing what is happening to journalists like Ravish Kumar, Barkha Dutt or that journalist in U.P. who recorded the video of a mid-day meal in a school, makes me doubt the media’s status.

Is it so hard to question what is happening around us? Doesn’t the constitution of this country grant me that right? I know as a 19-year-old it’s not expected of you to have an opinion, but I am worried about my future—if at all I will have the freedom to express my opinion.

The future seems gloomy and bleak, and I’m sure everyone is aware of what is happening, I at least want a conversation to keep the hopes for the future alive.
