Daughter-in-law of Nooty Ramamohana Rao, a retired Hyderabad High Court judge, has filed a dowry case against him. The case was filed in April against her husband Nooty Vasishta and in-laws for brutally harassing her.
This news has come in the limelight after she released a CCTV footage, apparently shot in April. The video footage shows two men harassing her, one is identified as Nooty Ramamohana Rao, and the other as his son shouting at Sindhu Sharma, then Rao drags her to a couch and attacks her along with his son and wife. The video shows that there is a small boy who comes out to her but couldn’t do anything for her.
Rao’s daughter-in-law Sindhu Sharma told the News Minute that she was frequently harassed and assaulted by her husband and in-laws, and when the beating became intolerable, she cried out for help. But her in-laws rushed into her room and started beating her instead of stopping their son.
Sindhu wanted her child back. Harassment over dowry started soon after the wedding took place in 2012, and the case was filed in April 2019. Sindhu went to the Central Crime Station and alleged that she was beaten and harassed by her husband and in-laws.
After hearing this news, I want to ask: what kind of a system is this? What kind of people are they?
Even a retired HC judge is demanding dowry from her daughter-in-law! He is brutally harassing her just because of dowry, and no steps are taken against him. Very few people know about this news. Whom are they waiting for? This is a serious matter in our society. According to the data, dowry-related crimes cause 1.4 deaths per year per 100,000 women in India. Immediate steps must be taken in this type of crime.
