From over more than 100 years Bollywood has huge impression on the Mass. People blindly follow & believe what shown in the film without thinking about it’s content.
Anyway here I’m extremely sad to see that not only in our society but even in Bollywood unjust things happen to Specially Abled women. I myself being physically challenged asking this question on behalf of thousands of Women like me in our society is what does Bollywood industry want to prove who we are? Don’t we have hearts too? Enequality happens with the women in every field and if that particular woman is physically challenged she has to suffer even more…!
Here is an example.. Few years ago there came a Bollywood movie named ‘Margerita With A Straw’ don’t how many of people know about this movie but it was story about a physically challenged girl with C.P (Cerebral Palsy) played by actress Kalki. What I don’t like about that movie was it’s bad content. They showed how a girl with a disability can have desires to be in a relationship with someone & have right to get the love but what? making her lesbian at the end of the movie because there is no single man in the society who can accept her?
Similarly in last year another movie came starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif & Anushka Sharma in lead roles. Yes guessed it right I’m talking about the ‘Zero’ movie.
Where in the movie they showed that being physically challenged with Dwarfism the male lead Bauaa Singh (Shahrukh Khan) openly romanced with a normal woman actress Babita Kumari (Katrina Kaif) & poor Aafia…! (Anushka Sharma) She has to marry him even he dumped her. So what if they showed Shahrukh Khan as normal able bodied character & falls in love with the Girl with CP?
And this kind of scrap things receives appreciation from the critics…!
What is Bollywood trying to show us? They indirectly spreading the idea that if a woman with physically challenged wants love she has only 2 options left end up Becoming a Lesbian or They can only marry another physically challenged Man…! Why such discrimination?
Sorry… I’m not against my Physically Challenged Brothers neither I’m against of LGBT community…
What I’m trying to say here is,
Don’t women with special needs have right to be in a relationship with able bodied men? Or doesn’t in our society men have courage to accept specially abled women?
Because I saw many Specially Abled men in society are happily married with Able Bodied women but when it comes to the Physical Challenged woman nobody dare to accept them…!
