Why I Believe The Amazon Fire Was A Clarion Call For Us To Return To Nature

It was just last month the ‘Lungs of the Earth’ – the great Amazon rainforest was on fire. This time, the fire rose up to 85%, leading to a devastating impact. Somehow, it seems to me that this devastation gave us a clarion call. Nature, somehow, showed her wrath and frustration. It was a howl that shook the entire world.

Somehow it makes me feel that this is a warning bell that has set the perfect mood for impending doom. Though it is not the first time that we have noticed such a disaster but somehow, when I scroll through social media I find that this time the wrath of nature has reached most drawing rooms. Because, seated at the other end of the globe from the site, many people started posting and sharing messages with the hashtag #PrayForAmazon.

Even though the thought may have stirred their mind for the fraction of a second, I was satisfied with the thought “Kuch to hua… at least ek bar hi sahi, par hum logo ne socha to.” (At least something is happening… even if it’s just once, at least we’re thinking of something other than us.)

Every action starts with a thought I really hope that this small thought is nurtured and nourished and ultimately results in great action. Let the thought not be lost in the dreary desert of logic, where often the principal thoughts are on the lines of “Amazon jal raha hai to mera kya?” (What does the Amazon burning have to do with me?)

This article attempts to inspire some thought and action among people in order to come forward and replenish the loss that has occurred. We don’t need to go to the Amazon, but charity begins from home. So be case with us. Let us come forward, join hands and work to plant more trees so that our lungs can be safe ultimately.
