National Register of Citizens (NRC) at a glance.
It’s very unfortunate India is a country surrounded by countries with who it is sometimes difficult to share borders. Pakistan is in the northwest portion, and beyond is Afghanistan, who share borders with China. Nepal’s and Bhutan’s borders may allow India to relax a little. We are also surrounded by Bangladesh in the east, Sri Lanka and the Maldives in the south.
Despite the disturbances in the past between India and its neighbours, India has retained its glory through PM Modi’s initiatives in the recent past. Myanmar is another country we share relations with, it shares borders with northeast India, China, Thailand and Bangladesh.
It’s very unfortunate that India struggles to maintain peace and a cordial relationship with its neighbours due to constant disturbance from some or the other neighbour.
Illegal migration that has found an easy way to rest in our country. Many people believe this is due to our democratic status. Many times, there is a resemblance between those who are Indians and those who have migrated. Languages are also similar, like Hindi, Bengali, Urdu and Tamil.
To tackle this, the government and security agencies are struggling to identify such illegal migrants despite facing tremendous unwanted pressure from leaders and politicians. Another thing that is unfortunate is how some politicians are using this for political gain, creating problems that often become major hindrances while carrying out the job. Instigating religious feelings when it comes to sensitive issues is an attempt to break national identity and integrity. Often, they don’t worry about the nation’s security and economic growth, which is backbone of prosperity. The thing is, the current situation hampers the process of obtaining genuine population statistics, and thus our preparedness to plan strategic infrastructure requirement required. Indeed, no other nation in the world faces the problem that India does.
Therefore, keeping in mind that safety and security is the prime concern for the nation, let us not allow politics and differences in indigenous identity get in the way of preserving the culture of our nation. We must ensure our future generation lives peacefully and happily, as we are the largest democratic country in the world. We have multi-religious people living peacefully and respecting each other’s faith. That’s our strength, and our diversity is unique. Nowhere around the world can one can find a people united by the culture that is their strength. We will not allow forces to take us by their various designs.
