5 Space Missions Led By ISRO That You Should Look Out For

Indians were upset at the failure of Chandrayaan 2 and about the unsuccessful soft landing of the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover on the moon. But there is a saying, “victory belongs to those who make the hardest attempts.”

This is why ISRO is planning numerous ambitious space missions within the coming years. Us Indians have the guts to touch space with glory. We just need some patience to get the best of it. In this regard, there are 5 important space missions that ISRO is conducting.

Various schools and science institutes are also curving to create a better education system to nurture more genius brains.

Hence, let’s end the curiosity of billions of Indians and know about the upcoming important space projects that ISRO is working on.

1) Aditya-L1 Mission By April 2020

To study the Sun’s corona and atmosphere, ISRO will send Aditya-L1 which is its first planned probe. Now, many of you will get confused and ask what this corona is all about. The outer layer of the Sun is called the corona which extends thousands of kilometers above the disc of the sun which is within our visible range.

The basic objective of this mission is to find out that how the temperature of the Sun’s corona is so high – 6000 degree Kelvin – in spite of the fact that it is placed much higher above the surface of the sun. This question has remained unanswered to the human civilisation still now. So, to find out the answer of this question, ISRO is conducting this space mission. The corona is one of the most interesting astrophysical mysteries that remains unknown to us.

2) Gaganyaan Mission By December 2021/January 2022

The specialty of this mission is that ISRO will try to conduct a human landing on the planet Mars. India will send an astronaut to land on Mars on a spacecraft known as Gaganyaan. This will also make the India the fourth nation to achieve such a great feat in space technology. The total cost involved in this mission is ₹10,000 crore.

Gaganyaan is considered to be one of the boldest and biggest space missions so far. A crew module will be created to provide the astronauts a proper life support system so that it can help them stay alive in space for longer duration. Along with the creation of a proper life supporting environment, a control system is also being developed. This space missions is of the highest priority 2019 onwards.

3) Mangalyaan 2 By 2022-2023 (Or The Mars Orbiter Mission 2)

India’s second space mission is Mangalyaan 2; this is another important project that will be conducted by ISRO by 2022-2023. This is also an orbiter mission. Mangalyaan – 2 will use aerobraking, whose purpose is to reduce the initial apoapsis in order to enter the orbit and make more suitable observations.

This mission is basically the MOM-2 model of ISRO. The Indian government has also funded this mission to make a second mission to Mars. Here, no Lander or Rover will be send to Mars. The objective is just to seek the information on Mars in more detail.

4) Shukrayaan Mission To Venus Between 2023-2025

This will take shape by 2025. Our neighboring planet Venus is considered to be able to provide a habitable zone like Earth. It is also considered as the twin sister of Earth on the basis of its size, composition and density, as theories suggest that both planets share a common origin 4.5 million years ago.

ISRO plans on sending an orbiter mission to conduct an in-depth study of the planet’s surface atmosphere and whether there could be possibility of life. The topic of interest here is that Venus is continuously exposed to high solar radiation and solar flares.

5) India’s Own Space Station By 2023

Another ground breaking project that ISRO is going to launch by 2023 is its own space station! As per the statement of ISRO chairman K Sivan, this space station can host people for at least 15-20 days in space and will weigh 15-20 tonnes. Thus, our future space missions can help India to build new records in upcoming years.
