India recorded its highest rainfall this year in the last 25 years. It recorded 10% more than the normal rains. This year the monsoon began on September 1st in Rajasthan and other northern states.
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of deaths, with approximately 100 people reported dead. In Ballia, at least 900 prisoners were shifted to another jail after the rainwater entered the jail. In Bihar, about 30 people have lost their lives so far. Due to the heavy rains, Bihar is still suffering the most. In Patna, schools, colleges and shops have been shut down. Here, normal life is now a very painful one.
More than 4000 people have been rescued from flood-affected areas. Indian Air Force helicopters are supplying food to people who are living in the relief camps and low lying areas. On Sunday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the flood-affected areas and issued some necessary instructions to resolve this issue.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also discussed the flood situation with Nitish Kumar and promised to provide all possible help. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi requested his party workers to help in the rescue operations.
This year, many people lost their home and life due to the floods. Floods that began in Assam are now destroying Bihar and its neighbouring states. It is a universal disaster that no one can stop. However, it affects common people; the children are unable to go to schools and colleges. People will lose their livelihoods, homes and much more.
