What Has Religion Got Do With Someone’s Profession?

Everyone is aware of what is happening and what has happened in the last few days in BHU, regarding respected professor Mr Firoz Khan.

This is insane! I don’t and will never take a side on this nonsensical matter.

A student’s job is to study and pay respect to their preachers whoever they are. I learned this in life that no one is bigger than your teacher.

The BHU students who protested against a Muslim professor teaching Sanskrit has put the prestigious university in a bad light. That entire student group has shown that they belong to no religion, and there is no difference between them and fanatics. I can’t say for sure whether someone had provoked them to do so or it was their deed, but whatever it is, it has disturbed the entire system.

The university and its management posed more foolishness. I don’t understand the need to go through the norms and conducting meetings in this matter. There should be a clear cut notice to be circulated that we had appointed Mr Firoz Khan as a Sanskrit professor, and he will remain in charge of his duties until his tenure. If any student has a problem with this, then they are free to walk out of the university course with their fee refund. Also, if any student will try to agitate other students, then they should be expelled from the university.

BHU has a name and esteem, at least this action could  be implemented so that in future, this kind of activity would not take place anywhere with anyone. Besides, this would make the university more respectful without tarnishing the university’s position.

I am surprised that on this matter, no politician has shown any interest—no debate is going on, and most importantly, our CM and PM ( Yogi Adityanath, Narendra Modi respectively) are silent on this issue. Isn’t it their duty to look into this matter?

This is wrong and should not have happened. At least not with a person who is giving his whole life, teaching students, he does not deserve this behavior just because of the religion he follows.

I feel ashamed that these students have an issue with someone’s profession because of their religion.
