Poem: Sleep Will Choose To Settle Forever

The activist screams, they cry, they oppose,
But they yawn, shut their eyes, and the ruling party dozes.

My city chokes, she gasps for help. Her people walk around with cloth on their noses,
The sportsman screams, he cries, he opposes,
But they yawn, shut their eyes, and the ruling party dozes.

Classrooms lie empty, schools are shut.
When will we break out of this rut?
The student screams, he cries, he opposes,
But they yawn, shut their eyes, and the ruling party dozes.

The clueless have suffered, Those who knew have run,
The doctor screams, he cries, he opposes,
But they yawn, shut their eyes, and the ruling party dozes.

Wake up, for death is on our doorstep.
Wake up, for, in the middle of the night,
Sleep will choose to settle forever.
There will be no one to scream, to cry and oppose,
They will still yawn, shut their eyes, and the ruling party will doze.
