Why can’t we accept the people who got divided because of Jinnah just 70 years ago, are really our own, whether Hindus or Muslims? Why can’t we unsubscribe to Jinnah’s two-nation theory and say we never accepted it?
I do not start this article by being suspicious of Modi-Shah. Why always be suspicious? Maybe, they indeed mean good for the country and its population. They are trying to do the best according to what they have been taught from childhood. I give them points for that.
They thought of India’s problems and drew out CAA+NRC. However, what I would suppose is that they could not think of the solution I will propose in this article; that is by all means better. They should adopt what is better.
What Is This Solution?
A man at one of the protest rallies, shouted, “1200 crore ke detention centers banaye hai Assam mai aur 1600 crore kharch hua hai vaha ki NRC mai! Poore India mai kitna kharch karoge mota bhai!” (12 billion is spent on constructing detention camps in Assam and 16 billion spent on conducting NRC there! How much will you spend for the whole India big brother i.e. Amit Shah)”.
To this, I would add that billions more will be spent on feeding and providing for those who will be detained in these detention centres; we won’t put them there to starve to death, right? It will be a constant burden on India’s expenses.
I am certainly willing to consider the BJP supporters’ argument that CAA+NRC is a solution based on good intentions. But, I say to my brothers, that it has created more problems (which I discuss later on in the article). With all this as background, I give points that India should look into. I request the PM and HM to please consider the following:
1. Make the borders with Bangladesh as tight as with Pakistan, so that there is no question of infiltration from Bangladesh anymore.
2. Whoever has come to India from these countries before 30 December 2014, whether a Hindu or a Muslim, accept them. Instead of creating detention centres for them, create rehabilitation programs for them (and if some money is saved, then please help farmers, environment and create jobs).
We should never forget, that finally, we are the same race, DNA, culture and language. It’s only due to people like Jinnah, that these poor people got separated from us; it wasn’t these people who were going and meeting the British to divide India along religious lines. I say to my Hindu brothers, its time to show the world your Hindu Heart! ‘Vasudev Kutumba’. A heart of forgiveness and love, undivided by religion, caste, creed and colour. Please focus on this point and judge with love rather than hate. To be a trailblazer in the politics of love.
3. If Assamese, who are Hindus themselves, don’t want Hindus who are non-Assamese, then take out all such people and rehabilitate them (with the money you save from not creating detention centres) and spread them all over India. Few hundred thousand of them will vanish, amongst more than 1.3 billion Indians.
Such an approach to the problem will be classified as politics of love rather than hate. It would take the honour of India higher and make it stronger internally, with citizens being content. We need politics of love – why not have politics of love? I am tired of religion always being used negatively in day-to-day conversations. Let’s not be slaves to enmity, let’s be masters at building friendships!
Problems Created By CAA+NRC
As debates go in favour and in opposition of CAA+NRC, and voices for obedience, as well as civil disobedience, are becoming stronger, finally, the outcome is that the country is burning. It has created a lot of discontent in the country. Some people have already died and innumerable, are critically injured.
There has been loss of property and rise in fear, for all. Premier institutes all over India are protesting. Ordinary law-abiding citizens have turned into protestors, out on the streets, because they feel very unhappy.
The protestors are unhappy because of the government. The government is unhappy because of the protests. So the question is “Who is happy?”
China and Pakistan are happy seeing India becoming weak. Their agencies must be rubbing hands-on seeing that their work is done by India’s miscalculated decision. By miscalculated, I mean that surely, the government didn’t think that the country would stand divided on it; in this way, that north-east would burn and so would India’s mainland, including the capital.
In my opinion, the agencies of the enemy might find it easier to recruit agents in the north-east, where voices of separatism have been strong many times, in the past, as well as the rest of India.
The Finance Minister, as well as Prime minister, has stated that a terrorist nexus has become strong and has come together, due to the high discontent that has been created by the CAA+NRC among Indians. We certainly miscalculated, that these steps, would give these forces a chance to become allies.
The Maldives is under Chinese influence, Sri Lanka is under Chinese influence, Myanmar is slightly more under Chinese influence than Indian, Nepal has been getting ever closer to China and farther from India.
Nepalis living in India for generations are saying, “You take our Gorkhas to protect yourself but deny us citizenship of your country”, China is ever flexing muscles on the border and we make two other neighbours upset – Afghanistan and Bangladesh, by clubbing them with Pakistan.
Bangladesh takes strict action against terror groups and even hung those leaders, which it believed, were involved in inciting riots and killing Hindus, something which is still to happen in India! The point is that India survives on its internal strength. If it becomes weak internally, then it is surrounded from all sides. CAA+NRC has done just that.
A simple indicator of good governance is to see whether the government’s dependence on security forces and intelligence has increased or decreased. Any increase in dependence on security forces and intelligence is not a sign of good governance. One can also say an increase in the contentment of citizens is a sign of good governance and an increase of discontentment among citizens is a sign of bad governance.
Beyond all this, farmers are committing suicides in such numbers that would shame genocide! The economy is weak. Jobs are not being created. The rupee is falling. Inflation is inspired by a Diwali rocket. Maoist-Naxals control large areas, and terrorists are always on a recruitment drive.
The country definitely did not want more problems. Many countries could have NRC because they were not in a similar situation as India is. India is unique; we can’t just copy their solutions to our different dynamics.
One may call foreign organisations biased, but the truth is, India’s repute is being hurt globally, by the excuse of CAA+NRC. The UN human rights body has called CAA discriminatory. A committee in the US has not lost an opportunity to bad mouth India. Videos of protests in foreign universities are surfacing.
A foreigner I talked to, said in a stereotyping tone, “My impression of Hindus was very good but this has shocked me”. I explained, “Do not change your views on Hindus, they are a really good community and they are very tolerant people welcoming everyone. What you have read in the newspapers is the work of not a spiritual guru. Do not make politicians your criteria of Hinduism”.
In the end, I will say, many laws in India are misused and mistakes do happen, even by good-intentioned officers. As for implementation, any Indian knows how efficient we are with the implementation of our policies, as frauds happen even in the most secure sectors, like banking.
We don’t want such a law that, if misused or if a mistake happens, will affect the lives of Muslim citizens adversely, and won’t lead to their citizenship being taken due to the combined potential outcome of the CAA+NRC.
