Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao stated, “Section 144 will be imposed for the next three days which is starting at 6 am on Thursday till midnight on December 21. Anyone violating the orders will be dealt with an iron hand.”
In addition to ever-increasing protests against CAA across the country, the Bangalore leg of the protest started on Monday 16th, at the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) premises and continued until the next day, when 11 students were detained at Puttana Chetty Town Hall. They were released after three and a half hours. Furthermore, there were at least two other protests planned in the city, one on Thursday and another on Friday.
Apart from Bangalore, Section 144 has been imposed in a few other places in the southern state of Karnataka as well; Mangalore being another major city.
